Carey Nordstrand’s Modern Version of the Goya Panther!

Hey All,

Did anyone see this on social media about a new prototype bass dubbed Acinonyx? It is very exciting, if you are wanting a Goya Panther II but with some nice modern features. My GAS level went up. Check out the picture he posted below:

That is one wild bass! Heard his demo of it and it sounded good for having rounds on it, but basses like that really come alive with flats IMHO. Not often tempted, but I'm picturing it in black and I'm thinking I would look darn good with it. If only I had a little more disposable income and didn't have so many other basses I never gig anymore...

The body shape changed I think in a good way where it may be lighter and also the push switches are more forward for ergonomics compared to the Goya.

The reverse headstock ruins it for me.

At first I thought the reverse headstock was an odd choice but it is growing on me. Really curious how the "A" string is going to work out. I don't know about you, but on Fenders I have to leave extra windings to keep the angle set for my open "A" string to prevent buzzing so this style intrigues me.

I agree...I would want some paint on it, but it looks really great. Surprisingly wide range of tones with those push buttons!

Acinonyx is a genus within the cat family. The only living species of this genus, the cheetah, A. jubatus, occurs and thrives in open grasslands of Africa and Asoa. Though often described as a big cat, this term is used primarily to describe cats of the genus Panthera, ruling out the cheetah.
