Hi, i'm looking into getting my first bass stack for small gigs etc.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The bass amp head i was looking at is: Behringer ULTRABASS BXD3000H Bass Guitar Amplifier Head
And For Cabs i was looking at 2 cabinets with 8ohm impedence.
The Bass amp head has 2 outputs 1 XLR DI and a regular line out.
Is there any way to connect these two cabs in parrallell? and can you even use an XLR DI output for cabinets?
If not is there anyway to split the signal from the regular line out into two seperate outputs and how would the impedence work on that?
----------------------------------------UPDATE-----------------------------------
I've spoken to many people and i've settled on the Behringer Head and the Harley Benton and Ashdown cabs, is should have them by the end of the summer, and i'll probably use them for a gig in september, so i'll either make another thread, or expand this one on what i think of the rig and how it worked out, many thanks for the support
Cannot use XLR nor line out for regular bass cabs. But you can use that for powered cabs. The cabs should be able to be connected in parallel. they should have two connections in the back 1/4 and/or speakon, just run a cable from the amp to one of the cabs, then run another cable from that cab to the unconnected one.
You can also hook each cab to their own output, which is also parallel, and this is what I would do.
Are the two cabs i have posted links to powered or not? and by each cab to their own output do you meant the XLR DI and the Line out? + thanks for the help
No they are not powered.
XLR is not for unpowered speaker cabinets.
You can plug one 8ohm or one 4 ohm cabinet into the 1/4" speaker out jack.
See below for clarity :thumbsup:
yes, but this means the cabs are in series doesnt it? so the impedance would be 16 ohms, and 4 ohm cabs are too expensive 4 me
No. Unless someone has done something tricky and extremely unwise with the wiring then even though the cabs look as if they are in series electrically they are in parallel. All commercial cabs are.
But if you want a cheap bass rig something mildly tatty and secondhand will always be the best value for money. Similarly something older and heavier. At least if you are young fit and have decent transport.
Just out of interest, how would you make them in series then? as ive understood other threads to say by daisy chaining the m it puts them in series..
You really have to go out of your way to put the cabs in series. You can buy or make an external box or a special cable to do that, but it’s pretty unusual and not typically necessary.
Read the FAQs. Two cabinets daisy chained with normal cables is electrically parallel.
Ok thanks, sorry for asking loads of questions about this, i realise it is getting into other thread's territory :p
