yes, but this means the cabs are in series doesnt it? so the impedance would be 16 ohms, and 4 ohm cabs are too expensive 4 me

Great question! It’s been answered correctly, just to clarify, most Modern bass cabs are wired with 2 or more PARALLEL jacks on back precisely for this purpose. 2 outputs from an amp should not be necessary, and is not terribly common on small amps. Many old or very cheap cabs may only have one input though, so it’s worth confirming.

I seem to recall an instance on this page of series jacks in the back of a cab, but there’s a good chance that person might’ve had no idea what they were talking about :). I have never once come across a cabinet with series Jacks, and if someone modified one for god knows what reason, it would be cruel and unusual not to tell a buyer.

At any rate, I just hate lugging around 410s, so I’m a compact stack guy myself (usually 2 Bag End 15’s). Those use speakon cables with an unusual wiring protocol, but I do run them in parallel all the time.

I'd like a head with two outputs so i can add a second Cab at a later date
Well, almost all cabs in production have two plugs. So you really only need one output on the amp. Run from your amp, into 1 cabinet, and link to another cab through the other port on the cab. But, if you're going with Behringer, I'd get a Bugera Veryon M. I had one for about 2 years. Its a great head for about $400. The amp you're looking at, is the stand alone version of the one on my 15 combo. It's pretty good, but the newer technology they use in the Veyrons is just so much better than what the companies have put out in the past. It actually competes with big name companies. Although, I'd prefer a Peavey MiniMax in that price range. It's around $360. I think that's the best "bang for the buck" option.

I know it's typical on TB to be over advised have you definitely settled on the Beringer? Consider some of the other options in a similar price bracket. Start with the Peavey options if your on a budget a even consider second hand options and non class d options if your not scared of by a extra weight.... Good luck in your quest.

No. If you have plans to expand to two cabs, then each must be 8 ohm ... when connected in parallel (as you would in a daisy-chain) the combined impedance would be 4 ohms. Connecting two 4 ohm cabs would result in a net impedance of 2 ohms, which I'm sure a Behringer head won't handle.

I've had a Behringer Ultrabass 3000 head for about a year . I got it to have a spare head to use with my 112 cab at home . I've never used it with my band through my 212 cab so two nights ago I tried it . It sounded really good and was plenty of power to keep up with my band . We are a pretty loud older style rock band and I usually use an Ampeg PF800 that I really love . The Ampeg did sound better but not by much . I think you made a decent choice for a head and I wouldn't be afraid to gig one . I was going to start a new thread about this but this one came up and it seemed appropriate .

Well, ok. But know that going against the collective wisdom of TB can result in headaches, nausea, impotence and a dry mouth. Not being a snob here, Behringer make some jewels: I own an XR18, a BDI21 and a MIC100. I would not buy that head, not when you can have a Peavey, Ashdown or even a Trace Elliot for the same price.

Believe me, i have looked at a lot of heads over the past month i'm settling with this for now, thanks for the warning

I thought that post was balanced and fair. The karma chameleon however, did not. I've just got to a show, set up my XR18 and ... no phantom power. Nothing. Dead. All channels. I officially retract my 'they make some jewels' comment. :D
