Chipaholics: ever buy something nobody likes so they won't eat it?

When I was in high school my mom had cartons of Kents and I would steal packs. My grubbing friends didn't mind.

My mother smoked Eve for a while, to stop me from stealing cigarettes from her. It didn't work :).

For those unfamiliar with them:

The Kents worked for my grubbing friends cuz when I was in HS, everyone smoked. A Marlboro was just one kid away.

The Piels (or Black Label) worked the same... whenever my parents went away and I had the house to myself, I'd run out and buy a case. If I remember correctly, at that time (late 70s, early 80s) it was about $7. Friends would come over, "Got any beer?", I'd say sure, tell them to take one out of the refrigerator... and they'd immediately run out to grocery store for Budweiser.

OT, but thinking about the $7 cases of beer reminded me of this, which was exactly $3.49 a gallon. There was always one of those hidden behind the curtain in my bedroom. Mom never went there. This is one of the many reasons I don't drink any more.

We r the chip capital of the world. Martins, Middleswarth, Utz, Herrs, Snyders, Gibbles, Bickles, and like 20 others. I just named the big names.
I don't really like middlesworth, I've known lots of people that move out of the area, and then can't wait to get them when they visit. There's actually 2 different snyder's chips. They make some interesting flavored kettle chips, but most of the other brands you mentioned just pretty much make regular chips you can get anywhere.

I love the gibbles white cheesies though

Coolest chips I ever had where "everything" flavor, I got visiting a friend in Maine. I don't remember all the flavors, but there was ketchup, sour cream, barbecue, plus more.

Perhaps it's a cultural thing, but being Norwegian (think it's true for Scandinavia as a whole), eating other people's food without permission (even family member's) is a huuuuge no no. It's normal here when you go to a party to bring your own beer, for instance. My favorit chip is:

Pardon; I mean: crisps! ;) Can you get these in America?

I love big sourdough pretzels and cottage cheese, both of which my wife hates, which is great - I have them all to myself. An added plus is that she won't by either one for me unless I specifically ask her to do so. Keeps me from gorging unless I buy them.
