Class D bass combo

i was on this mission a few years ago. i tried as many as i could in stores. i found the new line of fender rumble amps, the TC electronic BG250's, and the GK MB line to all be amazing. Super lightweight, great power, great tone. i would have been happy with any of the 3, but I found a used (pristine shape) MB212 and couldn't be happier. it is the most expensive, so getting the great deal is the only way I could afford. I did really enjoy the 2x10" and the 1x15" of both the tc electronic and the fender rumble amps though. i actually think i liked the 15's better, if I recall correctly. try to check out all three and see what you like. you are on the right track. i see used bg250's pop up all the time for under $200. a steal in my opinion.

i got my GK for $325, if I recall. If you see a deal like that on a 500watt 2x12, you drive 10 hours round trip in a day to get it.

I agree on the GK MB212. Great sound, great punch. lightweight. Hard to beat!

what means ICE? I always see that V3 100 getting great reviews, i think that's the path i may seek, they are great combos for what i want, thanks a lot guy I'm happy to be back on bass playing I'm very excited about it :hyper::bassist:

Are you playing with other people or just in your bedroom? What type of bass do you use/plan to use with this combo? Any effects you'll be using as well?

My TC BG250 has surprised me in terms of tone, volume, and portability. Not that small in size but 35#... I have the 12" model and am very happy. I did try a 2-8" model in a store and found it unpowerful. It can handle up to a medium gig, has a DI out and the effects are there as a bonus.

IMO depending on what your after:
Fender Rumble v3 combos for the classic "Fender" tones.
The GK MB combos for more modern tones.
I am of course generalizing, but I have both and feel these are the best at what they do for the price. In addition they are usually in stock at a local GC.

As well as used on the GC website. Don't be afraid to buy used!

Markbass 121P. It's small but very powerful, but also does low volume very well. Useable EQ, straight forward, very lightweight, but I use it as stand alone for small gigs and rehearsals with the volume not even past 10 'o clock. Highly recommend!

If I were shopping for a combo today I'd get the Peavey MAX115. Best bang for the buck and also I trust Peavey combos. Just an example, I've seen the TCE BG250 with a 15" speaker put to shame by one of my TNT150s. Just saying. I know everything is a matter of scale and 250 "hopeful" watts thru a single 12" might be enough for some, happy for them. Just beware of "creative" power figures and small (either middy or farty) enclosures ;-)

Another vote for the little 121P. Super versatile, very lightweight. Capable of handling quite loud gigs by itself. Throw an extension cab under it and it will handle just about anything.
