I recently listed this in the classifieds, and had a member PM me saying……”oh, I see it’s an express, I wanted a metro”. I replied it was a Japan MetroExpress, but the confusion has been made clear. I originally emailed with Roger when he named the chinese line “MetroExpress” stating the Japan units may be confused with , and possible devalued due to the same model line name. He did not feel that would be the case. It is unfortunate as these Japan basses are quite spectacular. I wouldn’t be selling it, but I’m really only using the Modern 4 now. Better to let it go to someone that’ll appreciate it. But to be clear, JAPAN MetroExpress basses are a different model line completely, and rival NYC basses in quality.

Got the new MetroExpress in yesterday and got it unpacked last night after work. I’ve moved away from SS strings so after playing it for a few minutes onto the dining room table it went :smug: for the new strings/setup. I went with my trusty D’Addario superlight XL nickels. After getting the strings on I made a slight truss rod adjustment, set the action and intonation and it’s all good to go. Bass plays very nice and nails that Sadowsky tone. Neck looks great as well as the final paint/finish on the body. The only thing I’ll look at on the next string change is the B tuner feels like it has a little bind to it when turning the tuning key when fully up to pitch. On the next string change I’ll take a little more time with it but I was anxious to get it up and running for a couple of gigs this weekend. I’ll report back after some live playing time to let you all know how it goes.

I have a Metroline M/J 4 and 2 of the tuners are like that. They actually feel very cheap for a $3K + priced bass. The knobs feel cheap as well...great bass other than that...Roger could step that up a notch, jus sayin ......

The Warwick shop sources their materials from completely different origins to that of the NYC or former MIJ shop.
