Club Trickfish!

Ah, so each output amp in the 3k is 2500W @ 4ohms. That's definitely a bigger jump. I was thinking they were 1500W/channel.

FWIW, a single channel of the 3k amp has about 3.9dB more headroom than the 1k.

Thanks for the clarification.
That's a whole lot of headroom, and certainly draws my attention! The 3.0 extra features are not useful to me, but the notion of a 1.5 is very appealing.

I’d think the 3k would be more niche than a 1.5k. How many are running a bass rig and a bass synth rig needing two cabs?
Not saying it wouldn't be a FANTASTIC thing to have a 1.5. I'd buy one...I just know that this particular venture to launch wasn't cheap. I am sure Ryan and Co have their reasons. When I played it at the new facility a month ago, it wasn't the sheer volume that impressed me. The notes have a particular weight to them that even my .5 doesn't have at that same volume. It just FEELS different to play. I can certainly see why anyone who would want that feel would buy one, even if they never had a need to give it The Beans and just played at a "Working Man's" stage volume. After playing it, I certainly see it as a regular gigging amp.
I remember the SWR days fondly....as does my chiropractor! 😆 Even if the size of the amp might be a tad larger than the micro amps that everyone has, it certainly beats hauling a microwave-sized 18 pound 3/4" plywood box filled with even heavier amps bolted in that put out 400 watts! 😜

Team: I am still looking into the 3K. For me is not about the power but the features. Since there isn’t any videos out there reviewing it. I have to ask those who own one. I have some questions; is the volume set to gradually increase or is it like an example EBS 750 you get a lot of power right away. Also how is the hisss sound that comes through the speakers, is it quiet or its really noticeable like the Aguilar AG700? Other than the power difference are the 1K and 3K sound is similar? Thanks for sharing the info.
• volume control is very linear, not like your amp example. Lol—you DO get a lot of power right away, but keeps going in a linear manner…without the hiss.

• noise floor is the lowest I’ve ever heard…

I'm going on record to say the 3k is the best amp ever made PERIOD! With that being said I can definitely see the appeal of a 1.5k in a 2U with only one power amp module. Or even offer the 3U rack in a modular configuration with the ability to choose 1 or 2 amp modules at checkout. Or being able to add another module at a later date.

If a 2U version comes out I'm buying that one also! 😅 I believe the 3k should really should be named the "5k." Theres really 5000 watts of pure unadulterated bliss! And the 2U 1 module the 3k

These amps are absolutely phenomenal! To give you an example of the headroom, I was able to set the gain of the amp with a powerful active pre turned all the way up on the bass to almost 8.5/10 before it ever begin to clip. And the master at 3-4/10 for full gig volume. UNFREAKIN BELIEVABLE!

The weight of the notes are just there at a level never heard before. I'm a true believer in shear power being apart of your cut-through tone. I promise you, no guitar player will ever out-loud this amp! 😅

I have always been a player that carried around the heavy led sled amps and cared nothing about sacrificing my tone for a lighter rig.

And that's just what happened when the new light weight amps came out for most who used them. Now technology has afforded us the ability to get the led-sled tone at a fraction of the weight and I'll be done-gone if I don't take advantage of that.

IMO, Theres no such thing as too much power! This amp makes all my instruments sound like they are on steroids. No joke! A true Game changer!

I was on the Pascal Audio's website looking at the L-PRO2S power amp specifications. It shows that each module can go down to 2.67 ohms. Is the 3k configured this way also? I see no mention of this in the specs. Can I hypothetically run all 6 of my cabinets with no issues (4- 408's and 2- 208's) using both amps on the 3k? @J.Wolf?
@ryanowens

I spoke to Ryan about it, and this is what he said:

"Each Pascal module is a 2-channel amp. We have that amp bridged to get one output per power module. When bridged the min load is 4ohms

If that power amp were to be used in 2-channel mode, it would have less power per channel and would go down to 2.7Ohms, but that is not how we have it configured."

So basically, 4 ohm minimum per side. In a functional and non-technical sense, I have been thinking about the 3K as a 2-ohm minimum load amp, as both sides at 4 ohms would allow users to run dual 4 ohm cabs/stacks. But thats different of course from one side being able to go down to 2 ohms.

Quick question. I just bought a external preamp pedal. What it would be a good place in the pedal board chain. I currently have: tuner, compressor, overdrive, Chorus, Reverb, DI

If it were me I would put it between the tuner and compressor and keep everything in that order. If using a passive bass, I might put it before the tuner.

Depends on the compressor design and features, but I prefer to keep my EQ after the compressor so my EQ doesn't affect the compression. I tend to use very little compression, more to shape the note envelope rather than control dynamics. EQ is literally frequency-specific gain or attenuation, so pre-compression EQ will alter how the compressor reacts to the signal. This can be good or bad, depending on a lot of factors, but that's what works for me.

Well, sold my 3K (also SVT3-PRO and DB751)…have a bass build coming up significantly sooner than anticipated, and had too many amps on hand.

That said, the 3K is an absolute killer amp…but, I didn’t have a real need for the second power module—primarily use one 4 ohm cab, no key synth bass or clean/dirty pedalboard scenarios. The higher 4 ohm power is absolutely awesome (and addicting) though…: )

For anyone considering purchasing one of the Bullhead 3k's I wanted to give somewhat of a review on the live gig I had today at my church. While I didn't record the church performance we did stay and practiced with an upcoming keyboardist and his wife recorded us.

And for a reference I wanted to take a picture of my settings on the amp and provide a few video/audio clips for sound via link. I will let your ears hear the difference at a very low amp setting.

Please excuse the quality of the video these were texted to me and had to be compressed but the audio is still great if you put on earphones.

I actually had to turn the gain down on my amp for it to not overwhelm the building. And even at this setting I was asked to turn it down a few times. 😅 shear power! This picture shows what the gain and master was on at full gig volume level. Please click link for audio and be sure to listen with headphones. My rig was the Bullhead 3k, (1) 208, and (1) 408.

Hi tricky fishers, two quick questions for y'all:
1. What's the rough frequency response on just the 8" trickfish speakers? Somewhere near an alpha 8a I would guess?

2. I've read looking through here that that tweeters in these don't completely turn off; are the woofers still getting a full range signal from the crossover when the tweeter is turned down?

Thanks.
