The Lemon Twigs, final date on their tour of theaters and halls, but they finished up with a sold-out show at this famous joint in the desert, Pappy and Harriet’s. Phenominal performance, unbelievable harmonies and music from just four people.

All you codgers that whine about “today’s” music, if you don’t know of them, you’re doing yourself a disservice. Two brothers in their 20’s, with a rhythm section(but they all adeptly switched instruments), they are an amalgamation of Todd Rundgren, Badfinger, Raspberries, Big Star, Beatles(with an emphasis on Paul), Emitt Rhodes, and Steely Dan type chord change surprises, but with their own unique flair.

Aside from their almost decade-long repertoire, they flawlessly tackled tunes from the Byrds, West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band, The Move, and a gorgeous reading of Michael Nesmith’s “Joanne”.

Wonderful! How great is that?

Pretty amazing; the bookings are a real mixed bag of esoteric up and comers, and legacy acts…
Make sure you check out the second page as well.

There’s also a much larger outdoor performance space(it gets cold here at night this time of year). It’s out in the middle of nowhere, true roadrunner and coyote country. The immediate area used to be an old west town movie set, developed by Roy Rogers.
Last night wasn’t the first time there were Vox amps, Rickenbacker guitars, and a Hofner bass on stage…
