Cracked Maple Fretboard On 4 Month Old Bass

Best advise - don't take it to a luthier unless you just want to chat about this and that (he's probably too busy to do that anyway) - just play it and stop taking highly magnified close-ups of what looks like a wood variance. It's wood, it's function is to act as a neck - it's for playing. :bassist::bassist::bassist:
 
Thanks , but this one is back up for sale , as is my other Stingray 5HH. I bought them both at the same time and have come to the realization that I prefer 19mm spacing. I love the way these sound, look and feel, though.

I gave up a SR5 oh-so-many years ago for the very same reason. Fantastic bass, but I never liked the string spacing.
 
The fact that it continued on a straight line through the fret slot is a dead give away that it is definitely not a crack. The fret slot would have relieved the tension in the wood grain and if it cracked it would have stopped at the slot. It is definitely just a dark spot in the wood grain.

That is a helluva pretty instrument you have there.
