Custom Bass Build with Cliff Bordwell

Updated picture! This shows the setup of the finished bass. Cliff uses the spacer to dial in the string height and neck relief. This is the first pic of the finished bass. I love how the oil rubbed finish really brings out all the nuances in the wood grain. The purple heart accent between the top and body turned out so nice! And I love the big thick grain of the light weight ash body.

Looks amazing!
Thanks sir! Yours looks great as well!

So I have a dilemma... My bass will be ready to ship on Monday, yet I'll be going down to Orlando in 13 days. I can pay the extra $80 for shipping and receive it in a week and get to play it during next weekend's shows, or save $80 and pick it up 7 days later. That's about $11.50 per day to have it in my hands a week earlier. I've already waited since last October when I joined the wait list... Should I just hold out for another week to keep $80 in my pocket? Decisions, decisions...

It seems to me that the choice is not really one of spending $80 or not--if you're like me, you already had that figured into the cost.

Rather, the choice is between having it for next week's shows, or retrieving it in person from The Man Himself and then having to go through the PITA of flying it back as carry-on luggage.

Personally, I'm really looking forward to having mine for next weekend's gig!

So, I've decided to be patient (and thrifty)... I will be picking up my NEW bass on labor day weekend. Fortunately, Orlando is driving distance for me, so I don't have to worry about checking the bass on a plane. That gives me this weekend to really love on my CB SCB before my Piper Bass arrives.

Spectacular! I love how the top and fretboard go together...
Thanks! There is definitely a lot of figuring going on in the grain. Someone on Facebook said it looked like it was made of marble!

GORGEOUS!! drool

That is truly a work of art.. Hope she plays and sounds as beautiful as she looks.
Thank you! I talked to Cliff for a while about its sonic qualities since I can't plug it in for a week or so. Sounds like I got the sound qualities I was looking for.

Holy smokes...that's dead sexy. Congrats. Can't wait for the review on feel and sound.
Thanks! I'll be posting a lot about this one when I get my hands on it. Hopefully I'll have time to do some good recording of the various sounds I can get out of her!

Saw him share this on Facebook. Congrats!
Yes! I can't wait! Thanks!
