Dent in ebony fretboard

That'll need a new string. The dent will need to be filled and the area leveled. @Bruce Johnson 's suggested remedy is best; epoxy and black pigment. I would also etch the bottom of the dent to give the epoxy something to 'tooth' to.

This isn't a particularly difficult repair, but not a DIY if you aren't somewhat familiar with it. It'd be really easy to 'dish' a spot there. Done correctly, it'll be near invisible. At worst, seen but unnoticed.

I would be really careful attempting this; ebony is very brittle and hard to work with. You risk doing more damage than good. I would leave this to a pro.

After looking at that photo I agree completely. It would be overkill to say the least. I was imaging a much more extensive dent.

Yeah i did put a set of Labella that i was keeping for my fretted bass, and it doesn't buzz or anything.. plays perfectly fine.. so all good.. i guess i will never know if the steam thing works on ebony looool
