Do left hand basses sound different than right hand basses?

If they don't flip their strings, I think yes.

I heard an interview the other day with Ringo Star (who sounds like a great guy, by the way). A caller asked him why he plays lefty on a righty kit, and he said because he just thought when he started that that was what he was supposed to do. Then he laughed and said he hears people say sometimes that some fill he did were "brilliant." He said they weren't brilliant, it was just because he was playing the drums backwards and that's how it came out.

When you pluck a note on a right handed bass, you get initial punch and the sound gradually decays. On a lefty, you get a quieter note that gradually swells and then ends with a punch. Whilst right handed basses contain mojo, lefties have a lot more ojom. Lefty bassists also get the hottest chicks crushing on them at gigs.

IMO, I say no..why? BEcause I have plenty of both ( same models right/left ) And if they do, it is so small I don't really care ;)

The reluctant serious answer: probably not.

But think about it. The electrons in a left-handed instrument travel the other way, which makes them positrons, right? This generates 0.511 MeV hum and interference. Not to mention being totally out of phase.

There's probably some time travel effect in there too, which would explain why you're never quite in sync with the drummer (unless he's left handed).

Plus, coconuts do in fact migrate, which pretty much says it all.

They produce left polarised sound not right polarised sound like a right handed bass. It shouldn’t make too much of difference but to avoid phase cancelling it’s best to have your headphones on the other way round when listening to recordings of it. Or if you’re playing the recording on a stereo system then make sure you sit with your back to the speakers.

Or fix it at the source. Just connect the pickups backwards.
