EarCandy Cabs - Beware: Crazy Ahead

Many bass and cab builders are nuts.... Makes buying gear other than Fender and Ampeg interesting!

Don't paint all of us with the same brush.. Yes there are some oddballs within the ranks, others operate under questionable ethics (I'm not going into those details). But there are a few cab builders out there that are totally honest and aboveboard, and delivers what is expected in the timeframes agreed upon..

I had dealings with Tim in the past, and my personal experience was positive. I used a sweet tooth 2x10 cab that was decent, well-built, nice tone. But that was 6 years ago. As a psychologist in my day gig, I understand a lot can change in a person over time, and this change can come about in many ways and for a variety of reasons. Sad to read this info.

Yeah, Tim really went off the deep end. The message at the bottom of the page now reads "BANG....... You're Dead..." This looks and sounds like something my former roommate would do now that he's back on the wagon.

Although to give credit where it's due, their logo is kinda cool.

Yeah, I just saw that.

This person is off their rocker to the point I hope they don't snuff themselves out over a business gone bad. I'm Christian myself, but my red flags go up when folks trumpet it extremely loud and often, especially in marketing literature. Spreading the good news is a good thing but there's a line that gets crossed there when the Faith gets watered down and it becomes another marketing slogan that creeps me out. It's hard to describe, and it's probably different for everybody, but to me, personally, there is a line there, and I'm the only one who decides when it's been crossed. In any case, this dude has lost all sense of reason. It's to the point of being a complete headcase, and he needs to go someplace where people in white coats make decisions for him because he's obviously incapable of any rational thought of his own. Sad, sad thing.

Bought some 6ft cables from Earcandy pretty cheaply a while back on the 'bay, they work well and sound good. Use 'em for recording.
However, this batch of more current info does definitely influence me in any decision to buy anything else from this company. Thanks.

Sad, really.

Wow. Not sure what to even think about that. There's definitely some large underlying issue here.

And on a lighter note...this is all that's left over from my EarCandy cab days. :D

I ordered a cab from Tim. Paid in advance with credit card. Contacted him once a month. After a year...same answer: "You're cab is going out next week". Called my credit card and put the purchase in dispute. He fought the dispute claim for six months. During that period he added more charges to my credit card. Then I had to file a fraud claim and have a new credit card issued. When I finally won and got all the money refunded back to my account, something took over my computer started randomly sending a sick filthy message to every address I've ever emailed. I pity Tim. He is truely sick.

That's just messed up. :scowl: I would like to avoid those kind of people.

that sums it up. even if 95% of the customers are satisfied, no one wants the chance of this happening to them.

I read somewhere (might have been gearslutz or harmony) that someone said they had no issues with Tim in getting their cab but felt like he was in some kind of shamed brotherhood because of all the problems people have had with Tim. He said it was similar to being a PSU grad after the Sandusky scandal. I own EarCandys AND I'm a PSU grad... :scowl:

Yeah someone mentioned it earlier. I doubt it's a direct threat at me. He has never gone into detail about who the "haters" are on his website but he's gone on several rants about Chinese made speaker manufacturers spreading lies and trying to take him down. I'd imagine it is directed towards whoever "they" are.
