Eminence Kappalite 3015 alternative

None of those drivers have similar low end capability, power handling, SPL capability or mid voicing to the KappaLite 3015.
+1. Where below 200 Hz is concerned the OP has to look at the Fs, Qts, Vas, xmax and thermal power rating, matching all of them within +/-5% to be sure it will work well. Above 200 Hz he has to compare the SPL charts shown on the driver data sheets. There's no shortage of European brands to look through, B&C, Beyma, Faital Pro, BMS, 18 Sound, Fane, Celestion come to mind and there's probably more.

In my Clyclops thread I added a list of drivers that have TSP's that work in my cyclops cabinet which originally has a Oberton driver, the 15MB500 (available in the EU en UK only), the Kapplite works in that cabinet too and so do the drivers below. You need at least a driver that has enough midrange so some of these won't be an option.
Celestion may also have something that could work.

-Faital 15PR400
-Fane Axiom AX15-300B
-Peavey 1505-8BW
-PRV audio 15W1600 (response up to 1.5khz so needs a mid or tweeter)
-JBL 2226J (identical response in the lows)
-RCF MB15H401
-B&C 15CL76

Hi!

I'd like some advice on a speaker alternative.
I have a 2x15 bass cab. Its dimensions are 1020 x 660 x 415 mm
Internal dimensions are more or less 990 x 630 x 355 mm.
It has 4 ports with diameter 4 inch and length is around 140mm

It was supposed to be loaded with 2 Eminence Kappalite 3015 speakers but apparently all shops where I can order don't have them on stock right now. I go on tour in 10 days and now I need an alternative for the Kappalite 3015's to match in THIS cab. It will be used for synths through a Fender Bassman amp

Any help on speaker alternatives is much appreciated !
just ask this guy
(super bass) subway wall off doom!
I'm sure he'll know a thing or 2 on bass cabs!
1X15 and 2X10 to complete my Subway D800+ rig! I already had one stack of the 1X15 and 2X10 but just added another, have yet to try out different set ups but all four together sound incredible! Tight, Punchy, focused and LOUD!

Question. Does it harm the speakers if I would pull of this foam? They're mounted in front of the baffle (so not behind). But I noticed the kappalites are quite thick. To much actually. It touches the grill cloth.

The cab sounds incredible btw. Tried the subs with a synth. Think my nuts crawled back from where they come from..

There are 2 reasons why they are provided, the first is as a gasket for back mounting to the baffle (not common in bass or PA speakers) and the other reason is to insure that there's at least barely adequate clearance between the highest point of the surround (right next to the cone edge) and whatever grill is present. It also serves to stabilize the edge of the surround where it is bonded to the basket.

Removing it is simply a dumb idea, no upside and plenty of downside. It will also void any warranty you might have left on the drivers.
