Ever Have a Mouse Fly Out of Your Bass Port ?

Not a mouse. Was at a bar with some local band years ago. Don't remember the guys but I do recall the bass player had some sort of DIY cab with a sizeable port on the front, he was cranked up pretty loud and, well let's say he forgot where he hid his stash... Funny green stuff went pretty much everywhere.

I once bought an amp from someone who had a pet ferret, and it quickly became clear that the ferret had regularly used the amp as a secret hideout. Thankfully the mess was sanitary, being only hair and chewed-up toys. And the amp worked great!

Sometimes you need to send in a mouser.

A bad sign...

The smell of the pee can make you sick and in some cases is impossible to remove.

Once when I went to a friend's to practice, a ferret stowed away in my EA 1x15 cab. Heard something in the cabinet and all of a sudden here came this little ferret head out one of the ports. We put him in a cardboard box for his safety and he went back home with me that night.

I had a 18he and was loads of mouse svvt in it.

My old 410he was in a flood in our basement it dried out (worked great) and months later mushrooms started growing out of the places where the nubby was ripped

I had a SWR 4x8 Silverado with the big port on the back...our cat *thought* it was a perfect place to nap, until I came back in a couple of hours later, picked up my bass, and started to slap. Cat came rocketing out of the back port and hit the wall behind the cab face first. I got dirty looks from the cat for a couple of years!

I thought it was funnier than the cat did, obviously...

I had a high heel go IN the port tube of that stereo sub. She was showing me how high she could kick, fell back on her voluptuous well shaped Maximus, and a high heel spike went into the port. It made a scratch I still grin about. It was an accident for sure, and no I didn't get any, she was a friend of my date. I'm glad she didn't poke the woofer cone but if she did, better for me because it's only a very long throw 8". I thought it was a 10 when I bought it, a Sony powered sub I got in 2004. Still have it.

By the way, some rodents will get in there and steal the packing material to build a nest somewhere they live in the walls. Rodents are collectors. I pulled up a sink bottom and found a small colony of nests made from wall insulation.

One more BTW, speaking of wall insulation, don't pack your cabs with fiberglass insulation. It will blow out of the port in tiny shards that get in your body holes. Probably ok with a sealed cabinet, but you may get the itches if you get in to work on it. Best to use Poly-Fill because it is only like nylon. The Poly-Fill gets in the eyes and causes irritation but easily removed with a wet Q-Tip.
It worth the work to stuff 'em. I read it's sound effect is like increasing you cabinet CF volume by about 20%.
