btw, little bit off topic mind thinking, if it was always a benefit to have vertical alignment then the evolution (or the creator) would had designed to all the creatures living on planet earth to have vertical alignment of the pair of ears.

No. Ears on mammals and others are like eyes. We need to locate things in space, be they sounds or objects. Really.
