....interesting. I'd never noticed those. I should try one on my Warmoth 5 to see if it makes a difference.
Yes

I bought two Fender Stealth String retainers and put one on my Fender 2012 P5 and one on my Yamaha BBN5. These things produced an immediate and substantial B string improvement.

I do the same thing - and I almost always buy my cars used too!Looks like we're two of a kind in many respects. Except my car is a 12-year old Focus. (We keep em' until they really die in my house. Primarily because we buy them with cash. Saves us many $$$ over the life of a car loan.)
same here and my experience too.
get an L2500 and be done.
that's coming from a guy who lusted for a Dimension for 6 months, bought it and returned it 2 days later due to build issues.
amen to that; hard to fix something that you don't render a problem though...I wish they would have fixed the quiet G string problem
fact is, fender did come up with IMO, a better SR5 in the Dime deluxe 5H-there isn't a 5er neck in the EBMM line that can match the comfort of the fender (I have owned many EBMM 5ers). also, the G string doesn't fly off the FB like all EBMM 5ers. the fender has a less aggressive preamp than an SR5 which is slightly more organic which is a good thing. the B string is killer. however, fender s**t the bed with quality control on these Dimes; everyone I looked at and played had issues unacceptable in 2K + basses. things like dots not lining up on FB's; bridges running out of travel etc.It think it's pathetic that this is the best they can come up with.
I did and I cannot believe how good it is-my last choice on earth but wow!Maybe it's time to try the G&L L2500
Wow well said. There are folks of modest means who will pay $50. for a new DVD player. Their neighbor of similar income just lost his job. That DVD player could cost $250.,be made here and your neighbor would have his job. To add insult to injury, the DVD player owner has 5 because they are so cheap. Each kid has one and there is one in the kitchen. Couldn't we gather around the one in the family room and spend some time together watching what we the fam watches not our own choice?
That helps us on so many levels.
MIA deluxe 5HQ: The Dimension you bought - MIA or one of the MIM ones?
And one thing really can't be denied - rational or otherwise, that Fender will hold more resale than the G&L. No, it makes no sense - but it is what it is.
I own a American made 5 string dem 5. with the 2 pickups with maple neck and fret board. passive pick ups. I've found between my gk mb500 and 800 and also the ampeg svt 4 pro, the sound is outstanding. you have a blend of different sounds, very smooth and chararistic.i've played out door concerts inside venues and hasn't let me down.this was a wonderful choice at those type of venues.Again, the choice of bass where you play will have a different inpact on acoustics, concert floors(OUR WORSE NIGHT MARE)walls, etc, etc,.the dem has be great in 80% engagments.hopefull this helps you.1. Is it true that they are world famous for it?
2. It it true?
3. Ok, the Fender Dimensions are world famous for having the very best sounding low B of any bass, now in existence, anywhere in the Solar System; but what are the drawbacks?
MIA deluxe 5H
I bought a mint used G&L and yes you're right about resale. good news for me.

after much detailed research-
the dimension 5H is slightly better in the B dept than the HH. great sound great neck. one of the best 34 scale B's out there.
however, the build quality leaves much to be desired.
That's depressing. Maybe Fender QC isn't what it was just a few years ago. But good on you for getting a good G&L used. Used is simply the way to go for music gear, and G&Ls are an *excellent* value.
I say again: what difference would it make? I cannot understand your fascination, not with what was said, but who said it. I'm pretty sure, at this point, that: Your Logical Fallacy is: Appeal to Authority. I cannot see any other use for knowing whose opinion it is.Where did HE get the info?
You don't know and likely don't care.
It wouldn't fit in the thread title. I included it in the third question. So why did you leave out"now in existence anywhere in the Solar System"?
So?Because Linnin was exaggerating for comedy sake.
Again, I cannot see how you've come to this conclusion, there being no evidence for it.Parroting unconfirmed info.
Anyway.
All that remains is you WAN'T to believe it.
Therefore it cannot be disproven.
i'd like to have some info on the strings.ihave question to ask you,I read from Mr. Vegs column in Bass Player mag. about strings, That we you buy a bass that the strings from the factory, such as, lets say musicman that the strings that are on the bass are spec for that bass only. and when you change strings,( the one you always changed on the bass) is lesser playing performance.EI it doesn't play and sound like when you first bought it.know what I mean?PRS Grainger 5 string is the best B string.

i'd would 95% yes if you keep the factory srtings that's on there.Low b ,hmmmmmm.Gotta find out what gauge that the factory puts on there. You gotta realize the sound of every bass instrument has been thru specs for harmonic value of the pick ups, wood, what type neck, what type of fret board, ect,ect..To make that brand of bass sounds like it does.1. Is it true that they are world famous for it?

ah, I sorry I thought we were talking about stringsThe PRS uses a tapered B and E. It also has a set neck, which is unusual for a bass.
Interesting, please what is a set neck on the prs? I think I might have and idea. Never played one before.Pretty cool? what do you like about the chararistics.ah, I sorry I thought we were talking about strings
