FENDER LIMITED EDITION "SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL" PLAYER P-BASS - DAYTONA BLUE

No. As I said, it is a humbucking single coil, just like all p basses. There are different ways to create him cancelling. Most “humbuckers” you see are dual coils, 2 rows of magnets. But you can also cancel the hum by taking your single coil, splitting it in half, and flipping one of the halves around, creating a single coil without the hum. P bass pickups are made this way, and some “noiseless j” pickups are made this way in a j style housing.
Once you split a single coil into two halves, you now have two smaller coils (E-A and D-G). It's just a series humbucker, as opposed to a parallel humbucker. I don't think anyone else calls this a single coil. I'm happy to learn something new tho...

DiMarzio humbucking jazz pickups are made in a 2 coil side by side config rather than stacked. The difference is they have output wires for each half of theirs to give you more wiring options. Their Ultra J neck pickup with a little tweaking of tone and playing up on the neck heal will fool most listeners into thinking they are hearing a P bass, but a little more tone tweaking and you can become a metal god of thunder. It is that versatility that I enjoy most about my little MIM J partsbass.

I seem to recall a lot of the squier affinity p-basses sporting a very similar blue colour like 20 years ago, no? That's about when I started playing and I remember a lot of the beginner squier instruments that people were playing had a similar shade of blue. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I don't remember seeing this one before.View attachment 7037202

I changed to an antique white pearloid pickguard for looks and gave it a much needed set up and slapped on a set of TI Flats. It plays and sounds like “budda”! Love this bass!!!
