Fender Rumble 100 v3- Blown components and Warranty issues

This is not true of most of the Rumble line, parts are available to any authorized Fender Electronics service center.

Unfortunately that's no longer true. I do service parts for a large retailer and we are a long standing Fender Authorized Service Center and definitively, if the Rumble is not under warranty, you can't get parts. I actually just triple checked with my Service Manager because I'm on TB at work rather than working, lol. I've tried woofers and tweeters on the cabs and the boards in the amps for sure. Likely some other parts as well.

This all changed.....mmmmmaybe a year ago. Fender used to be one of my better suppliers to work with, but after their "recent policy change." They've been an absolute bear to work with. It basically boils down to, if you're out of warranty and the product was not made in the U.S. or is current production MIM, you're out of luck.

That would be a (VERY) significant change. I know that most of the Rumble parts have been available when you order by FMIC part number, and of course many of these parts are standard parts available from other sources. Fender has always been very good with maintaining replacement parts. As a disclaimer, I'm only familiar with the larger Rumble heads and combos.

I do stock the power amp modules used in the Rumble 150, 350 and 500.

I know, we were quite shocked as well, and it's been very frustrating. You can send us a Rumble 115 with a blown woofer into our Service Center and if it's not under warranty, when we contact Fender to replace said woofer, they basically tell us to kick rocks, I've run into the exact same response for many Fender products since their policy change.

If this pastes correctly, this was my interaction with Fender on a Rumble that came in for service last month. I'll be deleting most names and contact info of course. Work backwards..you know how it works....

Correct, these amps are non-field-serviceable , the internal components are not set up for direct sale to the end user or Service Centers.

Hey,

Looking for the POWER SUPPLY/AMPLIFIER MODULE for the Fender Rumble 100 V3. It is OUT of warranty. Could I please get part#/our dealer cost/stock availability?

Now of course many Fender products I can certainly get parts for. Did a bunch of Super Champ and Bassman boards just this morning that were not under warranty. So ya just gotta be a bit more careful with what line/series you're buying.

My final straw with fender was similar. In 4 months time, i had seven of the same amp (G-DEC) fail with the same problem, and fender assures me that there is no issue with that model. I finally got an inside number (from an equally frustrated dealer) and was able to get a full refund from fender, only after threatening legal action. The last amp was broken right out of the box at the dealers. It was a 45 minute drive each way to the dealer, and considering the number of amps that failed, that alone was a big investment in time & gas alone.

Very surprising, it makes me sad too. Fender was a very good company to work for, and their service department was very customer service oriented. Run by knowledgeable, competent guys.

This may apply only to the very small amps, this policy was standard for amps like the little Frontlines going back years, but if it has expanded to the larger Rumbles (say the 150, 200, 350 and 500) I have to say I would be shocked. I would expect that if the parts are used in other models (such as jacks, switches, pots, knobs, etc), they should be available by FMIC part number even if it's used in a smaller amp.

outrageous? no, but GC has i think a 45 day policy, and the store manager not only didn't live up to it but apparently lied about it.

as far as fender goes, i thought they came through nicely. many companies make you mail things in on your dime.

I don't see anywhere in the OP's postings where the amp failed within the 45 day (in this case) GC store return window. From the info in the thread, it appears the OP had the amp for at least 15 months before it failed.

you're right. when i read it the first time on 2 hours of sleep, i thought when he said DAY 1, it was the first day he had the amp, but it seems that it's day 1 of the problem.

This exchange reminds me of the crew in the cult classic movie "Dark Star" trying to talk the malfunctioning thermostellar bomb into defusing itself. Did you try discussing phenomenology with them? ;)
