Fender Squier Sonic Series

I ordered a Sonic Bronco bass in white and a Sonic Stratocaster guitar in black, both with maple fretboards.
Estimated time of delivery is around April 18th.
Definitely interested in checking out these new offerings by Squire, especially at the low price of only $200 each.
They look like they could be fun mod projects.
Cheers, Davyo

Just ordered the California Blue Sonic P bass from Fender and it was in stock and has shipped. Generally just playing short scales these days but hoping the thinner body and jazz neck profile will make this under 8 pounds and easier on my hand. Sign up for texts/email and get 10% off too. The product specialist told me that once you order, the bass goes through a quality control inspection and set up before shipping - this is interesting because most places like Sweetwater do not do an inspection or setup on instruments in this lower price range. We'll see what its like when it arrives!

Not the greatest photo ever, but tried to get the color right. Been playing this one since it came in yesterday, and I am blown away by the quality for sub-$200 with the discount code. My guess for weight is right at 8 lbs or a bit below, and there is not one flaw in the paint or neck. The tuners feel quality, and the neck feel itself is awesome. Overall a lot thicker of a neck than I thought, much like a bronco bass actually, with a narrow 1.5 inch at the nut.

Nice new P - enjoy.

It makes perfect sense for Fender to do a detailed setup when selling direct to customers. When they sell through distributors and resellers they sell at a discount with part of the deal being the dealers need to do the final customer-prep, which most do not. Fender and Gibson have only recently started cutting out the middle-man so I look forward to this trend continuing.
