Fender Squier Sonic Series

Has anyone here tried to change the neck of the Sonic PBass and replace it with another Squier/Fender neck? The body should be 2 mm thinner than the other PBasses, so the question is, can the neck be replaced without working on the heal or the neck?

Thanks
KARLi

I have a player neck on my sonic body and it works just fine.

Well, my first lime green one (that I liked) had to go back because it was damaged in shipping. The strings were almost completely slack causing the strings to chew up a couple of frets a tad and the strings. It played nicely even though it had a touch of fret sprout. That one was about 8.2 pounds.

The new one arrived today. This one is between 8.8 and 9 pounds. Fack! No fret sprout though.

Sorry to hear about the shipping issues you had it can be very disappointing. One time I ordered an Epiphone Les Paul Junior and it arrived with a damaged truss rood that was pushed into the neck making it unadjustable.

The lime green is a really nice color but for me it’s a second choice. I’ve always wanted a sea foam green and guitar center has it as an exclusive color. Enjoy your new bass.

PSA - Musicians Friend has the Squier Sonic Precision on sale for $179. That’s $40 off.

Thank you for the PSA.

I got mine for that price. It's a really great budget bass.

I replaced the stock pickguard with an anodized aluminum pickguard, the pickup is a Guitar Madness Standard Precision Alnico Pickup, an ashtray bridge cover, a thumb rest and LaBella Deep Talking Flats all make for a very vintage-y vibe.

If I could shave about 8oz off of it I'd like it even better. I may end up with on of those GC exclusives so I can pick one out myself. Those Debut series basses on Amazon at $129 are calling me too.

My Sonic Precision arrived, and it's 8lb 11oz... which is okay, but since it's going to have a big Stingray-style pickup and electronics added, I'd prefer to save as much weight as I can. I've got a second one on order, and whichever is heaviest is getting returned.

I stopped by local Guitar Center and they had the surf green p bass hanging on the way. I was a lot more impressed than I expected. The pickups sounded pretty good (honestly better than some other basses I tried) and the overall feel was comfortable.

If I didn't already have a couple p basses...and the one on the wall wasn't dented all over, I would've taken it home.
