This looks cool, and I like that they didn’t make the in-line coils RWRP so you could get closer to a single-coil J type tone.

I have a bass with one of these Bartolini quad-coil pickups in it, and it is astonishingly versatile* right out of the box. Well, okay, not right out, you need to wire it up to some modestly clever switching or panning electronics to extract that versatility. But as @dwizum mentions in post #8, it also had the internal coil taps accessible on the rear, so an intrepid user could extract a mind-boggling assortment of tones from this single pickup.

*presuming you like your variety on the subtle end of the spectrum.
