Genius invention or crazy person?

Interesting.
I could certainly see this being useful in a recording situation - giving a different option for your sound.
I'm wondering if it would serve as a volume boost for acoustic bass guitars - I'm always hearing how they just don't have volume.

It would be neat for a walk in the woods with your bass or recording. No matter how cool it sounds it would probably get laughed off most stages. It's a neat concept though.

Yep, you're definitely not going to set a stadium on fire with it, but he does say the intention is for it to be a practice tool and to allow for a different tone for recording.

I think they need to work on the way it looks, it's very flimsy and home-made in appearance but the tone is nice and the idea is simple and clever.

This idea is not new at all, it goes way back.

Some sitars such as this Barun Ray have a gourd mounted at the top, a tumba. It is connected via a hollow tube, today they use a threaded brass pipe. The gourd at the bottom has a sound hole.

Gourd mounted on neck.
