Gibson Flatwound Strings on Jazz Bass - Surprising good and cheap!

It's "translucent fiesta red" :) Looks very vintage, but more "fresh.

That's hot. I'm a sucker (who isn't?) for a fiesta red jazz bass. I just had my Junior refinished in fiesta.

I've read in another thread that D'Addario made Gibson-brand guitar strings. Not sure about the bass strings, though.
I had a set on one of my basses a few years ago.

They felt and sounded very much like Chromes and Fender Flats, so my guess is D'Addario makes them for Gibson.

Yeah, I'd vote D'Addario, just based on probability. They seem to make strings for everybody...

Just put a new 45-100 set on a PJ. They are indeed chrome/9050-like. I quite like them, but probably still like 9050Ls best. These will stay on for a while though.
I have 2 identical Precision basses, one with the Gibson flats, one with the Fenders, I prefer the Gibsons, they seem to have more character and tonal range, so perhaps see how they break in after a few months and then compare. Perhaps the Fenders have more growl.
