How to dress up a plain white PG?

Guessing your Squier pickguard is not the same size and screw locations as MIM or MIA Fenders? That's very possible that it is not.

A wallpaper could be very interesting. That checkerboard sticker really transforms the look too. I've rattlecanned a pickguard and it came out pretty decent from a foot away. Really surprised me. Didn't take much paint and was very quick and smooth. So that's an idea.

I've wondered what shelving paper might look like.

I've bought stickers that go on the full body and pickguard off ebay. The fit was not very good so it took some work to get it looking right. Certainly looked unique once done.

They sold different flag designs (state, country, etc) too for the pickguard.

All my artwork is
Since pickguards cost the same ish as most of these ideas, why not just order a pickguard you like more? Then the change is reversible
The truth is that I have looked for replacement pickguards and I haven't been able to find one that fits my bass. I have one of those cheap Indonesian-made Squiers (see my signature for details) and the pickguard is different-shaped from other Precisions. And, if I get a cooler-looking pickguard, I wouldn't want to go back to plain white, so reversability is kind of irrelevant...at least, until I change my mind!

So far, I like SkinYourSkunk.com the best. Pickguard decals for only $15.00!! But I really like what you did, Ken R, with the racing kit...your bass looks darned cool! And Feral Feline, I love your idea of the vinyl wallpaper. That would work beautifully. At this moment, I think I'm going to forget the tortoiseshell idea and go for some flames...something from this page perhaps...I dunno, I better mull it over.

Does anyone know where I could just buy a new pickguard for my bass?

OK, thanks guys. But what I'm really looking for is tortoiseshell or black-pearloid waterslide decals large enough to cover a whole pickguard. I suspect it's not made anywhere. I'd be shopping for a new pickguard except it's hard as heck to find one to fit my particular P-bass - it's not Fender - its a Squier, and Indonesian to boot. I guess that's why I thought about purty-ing up my existing PG.
iI you send your pickguard to Pickguardian, Tony can make a one to that exact profile.

Dude - go to a local shop that does vehicle wraps. I did an entire Pbass in DiNoc carbon fiber (looks, feels, textured as carbon fiber) and wrapped the pick guard in a black-and-white vinyl print of rosewood. Looked SICK! Just sold it. The carbon fiber or brushed-steel DiNoc would look killer on that bass!!

Hey man, that looks just sick! Did you do the headstock too? I'm thinking it wouldn't look complete unless you did...
