Hpf broughton?

havent ordered a broughton but have bought a Azure drive used and was very impressed with the tone and build quality.

That said, for a straight up HPF, its VERY hard to beat an Fdeck HPF Series 3 for electric bass.

Has anyone ordered from broughton? Small online presense without phone numbers . Any other good hpf recommendations?
No phone numbers but you can PM me here or check out my contact page on my website in my signature. Thanks for the interest!

I know @Azure Skies has already weighed in, but I'll just add that I did purchase one of the Broughton HPFs a little bit ago, and the whole experience was great. If you're considering one of his products, I wouldn't factor in "small online presence" or lack of phone number in the least.

Good to know! Question if i bought the always on hpf, is this in front of amp or fx loop?

I can't seem to think of any reason why one would be better than the other... I suppose if there was some particular type of distortion or effect that you wanted from your amp (or other things in the loop) that relied, in part, from those low frequencies being in there, that putting it in the loop after those effects might make sense... but that's all that I got at this point. Others can probably give other pros/cons - FWIW, I prefer to run HPFs before the amp.

especially when he personally chimes on a FB thread to connect with potential customers regarding their concerns! Doesn't get much better than that.

I like to run my HPF at the end of my pedalboard, so my suboctave doesnt hurt my speakers too much.

Some amps I've had sounded better with the Fdeck in the fx loop, but mostly i just like it on the pedalboard, at the end

I have his LPF that I run at the end of my chain to take the upper highs out. I also have his octave and envelope filters that I am still just fooling around with. (My pre has an HPF built in which is at the beginning of the chain. When using the octave I really should have one at the end of the chain.)

Great guy to deal with, very straightforward and easy to do business with. While the website is a huge leap forward it only has his "in production" pedals and not the myriad others he has produced.

Broughton is awesome. A one man shop as far as I can tell, so don't expect associates-standing-by-to-take-your-order-with-free-overnight-shipping, but his stuff is excellent and I don't think he takes any $ up front, so you have nothing to lose. I have bought a few things off him over the last little while, and his P15 preamp/DI is my go-to. Ended up selling the HPF/LPF as I ended up not using it enough to justify keeping it lying around and my amp has a nice enough HPF on it.

Actually you do have to pay him before he will ship you a pedal.

DANG you JUST MISSED my Broughton HPF in the classifieds at a blowout price. I sold it and ordered a Broughton HPF/LPF combo pedal. His stuff is the real deal and I'm not sure I'd recommend anything else for a HPF. I tried one from another company (it was NOT F Deck though) and it colored my sound too much and lost too many lows. The Broughton filters are 100% transparent.
