Hpf broughton?

I'll give that a go the next time I take my amp and cab out. I'm using DI now and my rig is right here in my office. I didn't like going DI at first but last week I walked around the room while someone else was playing the bass and man it sounded so much better to my old ears. I'm just not hip on the floor monitors we're using but that too will probably pass.

Just stepping in to 43rd what's been already said. Josh quickly answered some pedal mod questions I PM'ed (while he was on vacation no less). I ordered shortly after he was back in action and received exactly what I asked for, with quick shipping and excellent packing.

There are a number of folks on this forum who go well beyond expectations in answering questions and supporting the products/companies they have a hand in. IME, he is certainly one of them.

Gotta love the TB community...

I would place the HPF post all pedals with the possible exception being a compressor and pre the DI. Sometimes I've had good results running a HPF in front of a compressor to keep sub frequencies from pushing the comp over threshold as quickly.

That's necessary if you're pushing your cabs to near destruction. Not so much otherwise. I use an HPF because of my DI line...some of the younger sound techs we work with like to give us the Kanye mix. This discourages them :D
Yeah it's works great for Jr. soundmen. Showed up at a club and the soundguy didn't know what phantom power was or how to turn it on and ask me to help. This would be interesting. I walked back to their brand new digital Allen and Heath mixer and quickly located a "button" labeled 48v on the touch screen. It blew his mind. We didn't have time to do much of a soundcheck but 3 songs into the first set there was still serious sub rumble when I played low on the E. The downstairs restraunt started complaining stuff was falling off the ceiling (asbestos?) so the bartender totally bypasses the soundman and ask me to turn my bass down! Lol! I explain that it has nothing to do with my little 212 and everything to do with Jr sound man and the new giant subwoofers the club had just built/installed. Then I told him not to worry I could work some magic and fix it. Reached down to my pedalboard and rolled the knob my fdeck hp3 back to 80-100HZ and all was right in the world again. Feels good to be king.

I've had a Broughton HPF since last Christmas, and it's probably my favorite "utility" style pedal. Setting it at 140ish lets me practice bass at midnight in my apartment building with no complaints from my neighbors...or my roommates. Plus, I can cop a great full tone in my college's concrete-walled hockey arena.

It sure does a lot of good for something so simple!

Funny to see this thread as I received my first HPF yesterday, and it's a Broughton!
I put mine in the effect loop. I didn't really mess with it yet, but according to what I tried, it's 100% transparent and works great.
I'll use it to mainly protect my speakers as I love massive low end tone, but that tends to push my cabs (SWR GIII) close to their limits.
I did destroy some speakers in the past. That HPF will prevent this for sure!

Here's mine....

Just what i needed and nothing i don't

LOVE IT!!!

I should just come on over and pick up my HPF. LOL

Some time we just gotta have a GTG for we GTA bass players. We could have drinks from Timmies, Pizza from Lil Caesars. We could have a fun day! :D
You call it Li'l Caesar's now? I thought that was just in America and Canadians called it Pizza Pizza, which not-so-coincidentally is Li'l Caesar's American slogan.

Pizza Pizza is a Pizza store chain. One of my good friends owned one for a while but found the restrictions placed on him by the Head Office made making money difficult. :(

We get a medium Pizza made for us at Lil Caesars every other week or so. Extra cheese then I get Hawaiian on half and onion, triple sausage and light on the sauce for the other half. Does two meals for the two of us. :D

I see. I just looked it up, and Lil Caesar's and Pizza Pizza are two different companies anyway. I always thought they were the same, but I guess not. Anyway, out of all the pizza chains here, I probably like Lil Caesar's the best. Pizza Pizza is pretty good, though, at least the one by the Windsor Casino is. Pretty much lived off of it the week we played there with Bowzer.
