Is Squier coming out with anything new in 2018?

Who cares I have a holy grail Squier already!!

I don't know why they'd be afraid of competing with their own line... their BUDGET line at that....
Because it doesn’t take a lot of money to make a good bass , regardless of country of origin. Fender mostly sells their standard traditional models. If they do anything new that is too far from standard, it doesn’t last long .
The factory that was making the Classic Vibe jazz and precision basses did too good of a job. The entire line disappeared . Makes no sense to drop a line of basses that was selling like hot cakes. The only explanation is that people like myself realize that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to get a good passive jazz or precision bass.

The Classic Vibe 60’s P gives me everything I need to achieve that classic Motown , Pino vibe. No need for me to spend more for a Pbass with flats .

I believe that Sweetwater has the silver in stock and show that the black and red should be in stock soon. I would doubt that they would cut a product that is selling well.

I hope you're right.

Several of the largest MI companies in the US show that they're no longer available,
but AMS says you can pre-order and they're due in Sept. 11, 2018:
Squier Vintage Modified Jaguar Bass Special SS Rosewood Fingerboard

I think new Squier basses are normally announced in the summer? - not sure though.

I haven’t seen anything new from Squier in years. The line continues to dwindle down to fewer and fewer offerings. They stopped doing Signature models all together.

The James Johnston Jazz, Matt Freeman and CV 60’s Precision’s are the best Squiers I’ve ever encountered .

I can’t figure out why there was no offering of basses in the Squier contemporary line.

Some designs similar to the Fender modern player series would be great. Maybe with some matte finishes.

I’d love a p bass with a fat humbucker instead of the typical split single.
