Hey guys,
I'm looking for a jazz bass that has 70's pickup placement (closer to bridge). I recently was thinking about the MIM 70's Jazz Bass ('70s Jazz Bass®) but found that it has a thick neck (front to back). I really prefer the traditional thin jazz neck. Does anyone know of a similar jazz bass with a thin jazz neck? Thank you!

Yes thank you! I meant the 70's pickup placement where the bridge pickup is 1/2" closer to the bridge. As far as I know, the 70's Fender Jazz Basses all had thick necks. Thank you for the clarification

also check out the deluxe jaguar bass. the ones made in japan have 70s bridge pickup placement. it looks like the modern player and american standard may have 70s placement as well.

I have a black crafted in Japan jaguar and a cobalt blue made in Japan jaguar. I took some comparison pictures of the differences. I don’t know if it’s because one is crafted and the other is made but these are the differences of these particular two.

It also kind of looks like the CIJ has nickel tuners and string tree and the MIJ is chrome

The US ones (75RI), especially the limited edition ones from 02-03 (70'sRI) have the thinner front-to-back necks. Always seemd much different from the MIM ones.

Are those the FSR Fender Special Run ones? If so, I tried one and the neck was amazing. It also had vintage style frets and a 7.25 radius fretboard. All of these things factored into the playability of it, I believe. Nice neck for sure...

Thanks for all this info guys! Gonna check out that Mustang now!
Mustang? Is it 70s spacing?

I'd also say to check out the Geddy-sig Jazz, either the MIJ/CIJ model or the MIM. Fun fact…the MIM Geddy and the Classic '70s Jazz you linked share the exact same body. The big differences are the necks and bridges.
