Well played JPTR, well played. Now I’ll have to grab it too..

Where did you see that?

Edit: See it on the instagrams.

Looks cool, wonder how long it will take to get one?

Lol right? :D
I wonder what changes it will bring. Maybe clipping dioides that won’t bring loss of low end? With no clipping diodes, it’s already excellent, so I wonder if Zvex SHO will stay as the base design.

I can't imagine them straying from the SHO. My guess is different diode options. For everyone that runs it without diodes, I bet it's not much different.

That’s exciting! My only pet peeve with the jive was the over compression… eager to see this!

I found it doesn’t compress much when not using diodes at all. It’s very open, dynamic, retains my attack and doesn’t compress. Perfect for dirty boost. As soon as you use one of the diodes and higher gain, it starts to compress. I tested this on 9V. Higher voltage raises the headroom even more.

The regular Jive at 18 V gave me exactly what I imagined everytime I read somewhere "your tone, but with a little hair". I enjoyed it most in combination with a quality compressor for going direct - depending on the rest of your setup, it may be subtle (which is why sold mine again), but it is very nice.

We‘ll see what the Bass Jive will be able to do, so far hasn‘t been released.

I am very much interested in my tone plus some hair. Every drive I've tried does something extra. I just want gain. Fifth Gear came closest. I like other dirt flavors, too, but a low gain option that sounds like my regular tone plus some would be a welcome addition.

I love my Jives - I have two on different boards - but somewhere along the way I missed the news that it's a clone of a pedal that is not at all marketed for the same purpose. I'm not accusing Chris of anything - again, I love the pedal - but what is the objective explanation for how the Jive is supposed to be a preamp-style saturator when the SHO is just a clean boost?

Basically the SHO is marketed as clean, but isn't really completely clean. You can find guitarists online talking about how it adds a little something to their tone beyond just a clean boost. It seems to me that bass is more sensitive to mild clipping of any kind than guitar is, I have definitely noticed "low gain overdrive" guitar pedals that sounded pretty darn distorted on bass.
