Was the first Sweetwater minion your designated enabler? If so you might want to educate him on amps and cabs, or at the very least ask to be assigned to a new sales person.

No he was not.
I called and asked for someone that " played bass ".......And I got that guy.
After all the posts on this thread that led to my research ,I called and they got me to my designated sales dude.
We spared over price ( I had found one on line for $304.99 ) and he offered me the same price but I then asked him to sweeten the deal.
I got it for $ 300.
Which was a good deal and in my budget.
I have bought a lot (a lot !! ) of gear from Zzounds and AMS . And CME thru Reverb.(
Free shipping was a priority with a cabinet.)
But some little something every year or so from Sweetwater.
But Zzounds and AMS do not carry Ashdown.
The designated enabler did right by me.
The first confused guy rode the short bus home whilst licking the windows.

My regular guy at Sweetwater is knowledgable and has always been helpful when i buy stuff.

In my mind Sweetwater has always presented themselves as being the most knowledgeable of online sales people.
While I did not know for sure, the first guy just did not seem to be giving me info that sounded just right.
I came to TalkBass for clarification and got just that !!
My designated Sweetwater sales guy got right into cab specs with me.
I will give him another shot in the future.

I have a one watt smokey guitar amp (9 volt) that looks like this............................

Sounds unreal but they CAN run a 4-12 cab. 50 seconds into this video

If Smokie's 1 watt can run 4-12s..... your 500 watt Ashdown CAN run 8-10s!
