I think they're over-estimating the appeal and interest in the "brand" to younger generations but I'm frequently wrong.

I was seeing in a local musician's site that a group is asking for 20-24 yr bass player come join their Kiss act, Black Diamond who will be wearing outfits! I was definitely surprised to see that. Tonight, at a more upscale brewery, a band called Destroyer is playing. Not sure of the ages of these folks, but cool!

I saw Kiss as an impresionable 14 year old and thought they were great. Saw them 30+ years later and was glad to have had the reference otherwise I'd have thought it was some sort of comedy show. The 1st time around it didn't seem as commodified but I was probably too young to know better.
