Let's give a shout out to the best Boutique builder customer service

The fine folks at Source Audio have helped me out many many times. Smart, responsive folk all around. My board doesn't have as much SA as it used to but I love what the company is doing.

Ben Verellen is pretty damn awesome to work with. Caught him last year during a tour with an issue and he made time while he was on the road to help me troubleshoot until he could get back home to repair my preamp.

Darkglass. None of my stuff has broken, thankfully, as I don't see how I could live without it long enough to repair, but any questions I've had for Doug have been answered as soon as humanly possible. Fantastic service.

Jeff of Damnation Audio. Hand delivered my pedal. Walked me through every setting, helped me sculpt it's use to the specifics of my rig. Awesome dood with an awesome product. Blown away all around.

Recently had the chance to speak to Nic of Midnight Amplification, great dude
Jose Ferro of JFerro bass’s is the man
The Dunwich dude has always been pretty great with emails and talking, I’ve just never had any of his stuff.
Matt from Stomp under foot is great too
Josh from Broughton has been super patient with me let me tell you! Haha thanks @Azure Skies
Frank at FEA Labs as well has been very nice.

I'm sure I'm forgetting someone.....dammit ;)

I’ve had the chance to speak to many a builders in my short time into effects. And most have been without a doubt kings of customer service in a world that seems to be totally dried up of the art. So many companies nowadays seem to not care about customer service at all anymore. It’s sad. But IME, for the most part, it is very much alive and well in the pedal building world/community. And I am forever grateful to those guys who have helped me and let me help them. It’s been an amazing experience and I hope it continues for many years.

I will add that it has been very far and few between that a builder has left a bad taste in my mouth. But that isn’t what this thread is about. Just saying though.
Woops, man I forgot to list Ryan at Built By Ryan. Thanks for reminding me. He's not the absolute quickest at replying, but this dude has sent me free hats, pedals and even let me swap out a few I wasn't using for new ones. It's clear this guy loves what he does. I really think that if he would professionally print his enclosures he could be one of the kings of the effect world because the sounds his pedals achieve is amazing. If I was more of a collector, I'd of kept everything I bought from him, but I am extremely happy with the ones I kept (RAT and Guvnor). The Guvnor is my primary A#1 drive. Even with my crappy headphones that pedal sounds like an arena stage filled with choice JCM800's.

I haven't had many interactions with builders, but of the more positive interactions:

@johnk_10 has always been extremely helpful and stands behind his builds whether dealing with the original owner or not. Great guy.

@boomertech (Frank) has also been an absolute pleasure to deal with in regards to repairs and general questions. His admiration here on TB is well deserved.

Finally, I think Brian Champigny from MythFX deserves some praise not only for his customer service, but products as well. A very creative and kind guy.

So many great builders and amazing customer service mentioned and I've had fantastic service from quite a few mentioned here.

But, I'm going to highlight Hamish from Southampton Pedals. I bought a fifth gear late last year (great pedal) but it started to cut in and out; an email to Hamish describing the problem was very quickly replied to and he shipped over a new switch as well as another ('scratch and dent') pedal (although it only has a wee chip on a corner). Amazing customer service and generosity, particularly as by my reckoning Edinburgh is approx. 3300 miles from Guelph!

One good deed deserves another so once I've swapped out the damaged switch on the first pedal for the new one I'm going to put it on basschat and give the proceeds to an excellent charity here in Scotland that helps homeless people.

Honorable mention goes to 'Sniffy' Gadtamichu @ BHole Production, LTD and Ima Pullen @ The Rusty Trombone, Inc...

... without their pleasant and professional dedication, my overall mental health would be kaput. Here's to a wonderful 2017!

Bryan from Saturnworks desrves a mention. The best customer service I have ever received when ordering a pedal. Average email response time was around 5 minutes. He now offers gift certificates because of a conversation with my wife, who was inquiring about one as a gift for me.
