You could always ignore it... which reminds me, whatever happened to the "ignore this thread" thread?
Anyway I will add to the list of front-mounted jack sockets, Guild B302.
The problem with front-mounted sockets is you need cables with angle jacks on them.
I'd say that might not matter. I prefer surface because it lets me put my bass down on on a stand without setting it on the jack. Recessed serves the same purpose. They're recessed actually. Not surface mounted. He means like, just a plug jack on the face of your bass.
Actually, I find the side-mounted ones require a right-angled plug even more...
What about if you use this stand?I'd say that might not matter. I prefer surface because it lets me put my bass down on on a stand without setting it on the jack. Recessed serves the same purpose.
The very early Lakland 4-94's had it in the front. But it was moved to the side before too long.output jacks
can we start one?
Oooh, I am looking into getting some more stands...What about if you use this stand?
GS414B
I just got two of them for my Dingwalls. But I really love the fact that they not only hold the bass, but hold ONTO the bass. So I'm going to be getting more of them, and finding new owners for my "old fashioned" stands that have that U-shaped support that the bass has to rest on. Who wants to buy some cheap stands?
Not so fast.
There are dozens of variations of Fender P and J basses with side jacks.
I like front mounted jacks too, but trying to list all of them is ridiculous.
OP has changed his opening text to match what I asked.Do you mean 'surface mounted' output socket?
