Markbass little mark 800 vs Markbass little mark tube 800

Another vote here for the non-tube LM3. I own two and take both to gigs, in fact the spare one is hidden alongside the spare tyre of my car! The difference in the tube version is negligible and you have no tube failure paranoia.

But here's the real world take:
I've owned both (concurrently. Still have the LMT800).
The plethora of LMT800's make them much easier to find (and usually cheaper too), and there is no
"tube failure paranoia" (unless you're a little dim) as, if the tube ever does fail (and I've only heard of it once),
the amp still works fine with the solid state side (instant LM800). Plus the LMT800 has a couple more useful
bells and whistles than the LM800. Why pay more for less?

You have to be smarter than the equipment.

Perhaps 2 years late, however, the difference between the 800W and 500W model is very well heard when you're aiming for that punchy Victor Bailey -kind of sound (the one on Knee Jerk Reaction).
The 800W just has more powerful low-mid punches (pulses).
Best listened to with a Markbass 2x 15" or 2x 12" cab.

Fingerstyle rear pickup, with some low and low mid added to the mix.

The 500W somewhat sounds compressed, with less pulses that you can feel from the cabs.
Probably because running a dual speaker system that's each rated for 400W RMS, the 500W doesn't even comes close to pushing the cabs to the max.
The 800W does. And driving those cabs to the max, really makes a difference in feel!

Thank you again for the feedback everybody, I ended up ordering the LMT 800. Regarding the cabinet, I'm considering an 8 ohm speaker, to which the corresponding amp power, at 8 ohm, is 500 W. I'm thinking on the fender rumble 410, seems like a good speaker with adequate power. Will 500 W continuous and 1000 W program be a good match for this head?

Have you listened to Fender Bassman 4X10? Twice the price but will most likely allow to to hear virtues of LMT 800 better; more articulate, coherent and dynamic. Rumble does Rumble no matter the head but many seem to love it.

Also power rating may give you an Idea of how loud you can play without blowing up speaker but not the sound quality at loud levels[ Gig levels]

Hartke Hy Drive 4X10, Ampeg 410HE, GK Neo 4X10, and something completely different Markbass Ninja/NY 2X12

Wow, dead thread.

But I know the answer. The LM800 sounds quite a bit different than the LMT800, even when the LMT is set to use 100% solid state input. I have no idea why they’d be different, but they sure are.
