Markbass Ninja Head Volume Pot. B50K or A50??

So here's the deal. Haven't actually tried it out as my wife goes to bed early and life got in the way of me testing it until tomorrow morning. She actually has to go into the office tomorrow, and I'll wake the neighbors!! My tech guy said he hooked testers to both pots and turned them up in the same amounts as he read very different ohms of resistance. So the source I ordered from was right, and maybe MB got a deal on some mislabeled, but fully functioning pots. This has me thinking of getting into another brand's D Class amp heads (This is my 3rd MB), problem I"ve found is that very few are rackmountable without going to a local fab shop. If ever someone comes up with the idea of turning these D class power sections sideways into a 1 rack space power amp head, I'll bring my Alembic F-1X tube preamp out on stage with me. :)

Update complete. It was an A pot. Tested it out and had a hard time putting my (essential worker bonus $) bass down--amp works like new. With it all quiet in the house,I noticed my next project with it. I'm going to replace the fan. I had cleaned everything while I had the lid off.....and she's about to die.... Thank you to everyone for advice and help. Cheers!

I just had one of these across my bench for a good customer. Many models use an A taper for the input gain control and a B taper for the master volume.

Amp works perfectly with the pots as designed.

So when you installed a B like the factory=
It didn't behave the same

And a A made it work the same as before.
Just like literature said but was confused cause your unit had a B

That's wierd. Anything is possible. Was supposed to be A but yours was a B that performed like a A .....lol

This is like a movie and everything is gonna explode. And they need to decide to cut the green wire or red wire.

Dude you saved the world. But everything is a A now instead of B.

I'm just stating what came from the factory, and what the factory parts were in the amp. They worked perfectly fine without the symptoms you mentioned.

Update. I work on basses and guitars. A friend has a MB 210 combo...old style. Said he reconned his speakers and still had distortion. I powered it up and went searching for "THE" pot. Sure enough, it was the same pot (VLE)that was just starting to go on my newer MB Ninja. Sent it to my electronics repair guy. He said it's a wider pot than all of the others in that lower row, might be a dual. Hmmm.... Stil glad I replace the master volume, but the VLE possibly linked with VPF is a weak spot on Markbass heads several years apart...So Agedhorse...when is Mesa going to make a rack mount ready head....because I'm more than ready to switch

All the Subway amps are rack mountable, just add the kit.

This is one of them situations where it is better to add more to the chassis later.
They sold a lot more having a head not 19 inches wide, and adding an extension kit for the few that want it.

I and many others will never buy 19" gear again. Adapters make great sense as a manufacturer.

Thanks. I'm interested in the latest light weight heads. I didn't see any kit options. I paid a S ton to have a Greenboy Fearless made custom with 2 rackspace added for combo. (top of my profile pic). One hand load in. 600 watts into 8 ohm. More than I've ever needed and just built an 18 cab if I want to do an outdoor show from Michigan to be heard in Illinois at 1,000 watts.

Only the WD-800 and TT-800 have factory rack kits available. The D-800 and D-800+ can be rack mounted with the use of a rack shelf. I gave detailed information on this 3 or 4 years ago, can't find it now.

The D and D+ need to be mouted to a tray, so a bit of modding is needed.

Mr. Agedhorse got in while typing.

Yes, agedhorse I found the kit when first on your website- The tray is added hassle/weight/size that won't work with the custom 2 space on my F112, but may have to fab one set of ears from another head for the latest version D800, D800+. They are getting stellar reviews. Thought I'd be a MB guy for the life of the cab......just a dumb old man bass player here...have mercy

Update on MB pots. While most pots on MB heads are closed LINEAR, the one for the bottom row on the VLE----is a closed TAPER pot--one and only. Used VST (not going to advertise how they helped) to source the special pot. Awesome folks there. As long as my repair guy was doing one, I'm going to give him my old Ninja to replace the only remaining pot that has to be worked to clean up. He gets to practice on my friend's first....

BogeyBass. I truly believe whomever supplies their pots had a run of mislabeled pots that they may have offered at a discount.
