Anyone have any experience running any Mesa Boogie amplifier, or more specifically the M9 Carbine, through Ampeg Cabs, like maybe two SVT 4x10HE cabs? But any Mesa/Ampeg combo experiences are welcome. If so, how's the tone and power?

The only experience that i have had would be a short lived one, very short lived, had an M9 with an Ampeg 8x10.
Not only did it kill, was just too much for me and my needs, but it was a tone machine to say the least.

That's kinda why I wanna try two 410s, in case there's instances that I won't need all that power. Thanks for the info!

Among the other paths to be found, you might consider a 4 ohm 410 and an 8 ohm 210 together, each from the same line of the same builder with reasonably similar internal cabinet volume per driver (thus insuring identical or nearly identical drivers).

The M9 is very happy with the 2.67 ohm load, delivers tons of power and tone, and you can decide if you need a 210, 410, or 610 (410 + 210). I did this for years and loved the versatility.

You may find that Ampeg doesn't have that combination available, not sure, but I found it with Epifani UL1 cabs. Terrific!

I'll research the Epifani cabs as well. Thanks for the info!

I have run my Walkabout with both an Ampeg 8-10 and two 4-10 cabs. It worked beautifully in both cases.

I am biased about the tone. It is my favorite amp that is not all-tube. It was pretty amazing through the 8-10 and still very nice, albeit slightly darker, through the two 4-10 ported cabs.

Do you remember which Ampeg 410 cabs you used, the HE or the HLF?

I don't remember the exact model. They were provided. If I recall, the HE are sealed, right? Maybe not. These were ported with a tweeter.

I didn't even look at the ohm rating of them because I have run the Walkabout at 2 ohms with great success. So, it kind of didn't matter.

They belong to a sound company that I am very familiar with. I will shoot them an email when I get a sec and maybe they'll know.

GK makes the CSX-210 8 ohm and CSX-410 4 ohm that might be a good way to get a modular 610. The M9 head is great for this application because it is 2 ohm capable.

@EtymaBass — Mesa Power House series also has a 4 ohm 410 and an 8 ohm 210 with the same drivers. Pricey, though.

Yeah, my original plan was to go all Mesa with the PH cabs, but price talked me out of that route. I then figured I'd look in to Ampeg cabs because I've always liked the Ampeg sound, so a combo of the M9 and Ampeg cabs seemed appealing, and I can get used 410HE cabs for good prices. I've never experienced the GK cabs (I owned a GK combo a while back and liked it), but upon further investigation, this may be a more practical route to choose. Depends on sound, tone, and power. Thanks for the heads up!

I've owned many Mesa heads but not one cabinet

I'd like to try a Mesa cab, but they're extremely pricey. I'm figuring the M9 Carbine with 1 or 2 SVT 410HE cabs should make a killer combo, and so far the feedback has been positive. I may still try the GK CX cabs that Dr. Jim was referring to above, but I have some time to make a sound decision.

I've used nothing but Bergantino for about a decade. Be fun to try some Mesa cabs for a few shows though
