I'm looking at this combination, is this a "last rig ever" setup. Sounds pretty good to me which is enough but are there any drawbacks apart from the weight of the cab? (That's a D800 not the D800+ - bad choice of abbreviation)

I had the 2x10, along with the 1x12 and 1x15 subway cabs. I dont think a single 2x10 alone is enough for all gigs. Also using the d800 head. they were all nice cabs... sold them all and moved to Berg CNs (a 4x10 and a 2x12).. very happy with Bergs

Well "last rig ever" is a tall order but Mesa amps are great products so I suspect you'll be happy at least for a while.

I have the particular set-up you're asking about. It sounds great, and gets moderately loud. I also run the 2X10 with my Walter Woods Ultra, and it sounds fantastic with that too. Bear in mind, the D800 will run at 2 ohms which means you can add up to FOUR of those cabs if you need more stage volume.

Yes, pretty damn loud but sometimes only limited FOH. I've been using a Rumble 500 combo which in its 2x10 mode has 350 watts and is just adequate.

I feel like I need to add that if you can throw an extension cab on your Rumble you will get a lot more mileage out of it. The limiting factor that you are experiencing is not enough speakers pushing air for you.

Unless you are set on buying the MB just as an upgrade (not at all a bad thing :) ) it'll be a lot more cost effective to just throw the companion Rumble 210 cab on your existing combo AND solve your volume issue (at least until you decide you need an 810!!)

Not enough speaker. It'll probably sound great, though. If you can swing it, you may want to double up on that 210 or go the 2x15 route.

Mmmm, adding another cab then makes it a less manageable/transportable bundle. The 2x10 cab is 20kg which is really quite heavy already so adding another cab just increases the PITA factor, no matter how good it sounds. Added to that here in Australia it's A$3500 for the D800 and the 2X10 which is like US$2700 or UK2100, put another 2x10 in the mix and you're looking at a A$5000+ setup. That's beginning to sound like serious money. I dipped out a Markbass because I couldn't hear A$1000 difference between it and the rig I've got now. I can hear the difference with the Mesa but is there A$2000+ difference. Not to mention the additional weight.

This is the sole reason I have never looked into Mesa. I hear they sound great but the cost here is so prohibitive. I think Allans Music in Bourke St, Melbourne were having some specials on Mesa but not sure if that is still going or what the savings were.

Yeah, cash is always a bummer but I am pretty sure you will always struggle for volume with such little speaker. I play in a similar outfit doing rock covers with moderate PA support and took the plunge with double 410s. I can finally be heard without maxing out the amp and blowing up drivers.

I run the D800 with a Subway 112 and 115. This setup has killed amp gas for me. Get a Subway 115 and if you need more, buy another down the road.
Second this - kinda. Get two cabs, you might sometimes only need one, but the Subway 15 is a great cab. So get the 15 and the 2x10. I have the 12/15 stack and sometimes one cab is enough, but the two together is glorious. And I've heard great things about the 2x10.
