Mesa Boogie D800 + 2x10 Subway cab .. thoughts

I'd get a 115. I had a 210 years ago (not a subway, mind you) and was never satisfied with the output. You just can't push enough air if you want to play loud without FOH help, especially when competing with one or two guitar players. I think they are best for either monitors when playing through FOH or in smaller, non rock outfits. Just my opinion

The D800 is fantastic and will provide plenty of output though. This is based on my personal experience.

I'm looking at this combination, is this a "last rig ever" setup. Sounds pretty good to me which is enough but are there any drawbacks apart from the weight of the cab? (That's a D800 not the D800+ - bad choice of abbreviation)

There's never a last anything. Put it this way, when my brother got his 500 mb hard drive he thought it would last him the rest of his life.

I'm with everyone that said you'll need more than a 2 x 10 will deliver if you want it loud. You simply don't have enough cone area that will push a lot of air.

It's hard to make a choice of size, weight and budget - especially at the prices in your country.

Barefaced not distributed in Australia so far as I can see. We get pretty limited options and if we import the duties and taxes as well as the actual shipping charges are brutal.
Barefaced are not distributed through stores anywhere, they are all sold direct to the customer. I am in New Zealand and have imported Barefaced cabs, even with import duties added on I consider it was a bargain in comparison with what is available in the shops here. Arrived at my door within a week. I believe in Australia duty is even less than in New Zealand. Certainly well worth considering for you.

Interesting. We've got 5% on basses and amps/cabs, then 10% GST on top of that. And then you have to WAIT. I'm not good at waiting.

That's actually quite good. I just checked the cost of the Bareface 6x10 compared with the Ampeg 610HLF in Australia. The cost of the Bareface after shipping and duty/sales tax is about the RRP of the Ampeg however the Bareface handles more than twice the power, weighs 20kg less and has a usable low frequency of 27Hz compared with the Ampeg listing of 42Hz.

Man even the Big Twin II and Big Baby II are affordable and if they match with their specs, totally usable for what I am after.

Sorry to derail the post but I may hold off on that Orange OBC810 and look into the Bareface 610.

We ship to Australia all the time, not a big deal. :) The prices here include all the shipping, you just have to add the import duty: Barefaced Bass - Ordering and Availability

Mesa makes a great product and while the 2x10 is not light or easy to move,it Handles the b string like a champ.
I use with a gk neo 4x10 when I need more volume and
In the future would like to add a 15 subway cab.

2x10's will only play so loud no matter how much power you feed them. I've tried mixing speaker sizes like 2x10-1x15 but I've found that 4x10's was just as deep and had better focus and punch. I would get the Mesa D800 with a pr of matching 2x10 cabs and stack them vertically behind me. It is always better to have too much and not need it than to have too little and need more. (jmho)

This is exactly what I did. Had a 4x10 and a 2x10. Traded the 4x10 in for another 2x10. I'm an GK guy, so I have an mb800 with a pair of cx210s. Sounds so good and is easy to carry and transport.
