Wait a minute, there's something called the Bace which is getting a new update to where it can be played with a Bow

Can I bow on the Bace?
The Bace is originally designed to be played, and feel, like a bass guitar. The fingerboard is less curved than those on bowed instruments, and the bridge is much lower. However, since this is an often asked question, I’m working on a bow-able variation of the Bace with a rounder fingerboard, larger neck angle, and a higher bridge . Stay tuned for updates on that.
Bass Guitar is easier than a 3/4 size double bass so why not shrink a double bass down to have a 34 inch scale from 3/4 size down to 1/4 size?Geez, seems like an awful lot of words just to avoid getting a 3/4 double bass, taking lessons, and learning how to play the real thing!

What if they made 34 inch Scale Double Basses for Bass Guitarists called 3/16 Size Double Basses? For the same reason you don't shrink down centers in the NBA from 7 feet to 6 feet tall to make them more mobile, perhaps? Or NFL linemen from 300 lbs to 180 lbs to make them faster?
But they've updated their design to have a normal sized sound plus they were designed for musicians who have an injury in their fretting hand. That would be fine for the bass guitarists if someone did that. But my guess is that bandleaders would still hire bassists who played the normal sized instruments, because they would sound like normal sized instruments.
I mean they've improved the EUB sound to match that of a Double Bass plus they should make an Acoustic Version of the EUB called Mini Double Bass.“Updated their design to have a normal sized sound”. That’s nice ad copy. Sounds a lot like all those old Kurzweil ads that claim their keyboards sounded indistinguishable from a concert Steinway. For decades. It never happened.
Believe what you like, but the double bass isn’t going to be replaced by an EUB anytime soon.
Double Basses would only be replaced by EUBs if more people remember the fact that Double Basses (and Violas) are Acoustically imperfect:Double Basses - Acoustical Compromises - Orchestration Online because they are indeed Shrunk down from the optimal size that would be ideal for the low notes. The Pickups & Amp of the Electric Bass, EUB, & Electric Viola address that issue by allowing the low notes to be amplified Electronically.“Updated their design to have a normal sized sound”. There is a saying in Germany that can be translated roughly as follows: "Quark that's been pedalled doesn't get strong"...Double Basses would only be replaced by EUBs if more people remember the fact that Double Basses (and Violas) are Acoustically imperfect:Double Basses - Acoustical Compromises - Orchestration Online because they are indeed Shrunk down from the optimal size that would be ideal for the low notes. There are pickups, microphones, and amps that work very well at allowing the low notes AND natural sound of a real double bass to be amplified electronically, if needed. The Pickups & Amp of the Electric Bass, EUB, & Electric Viola address that issue by allowing the low notes to be amplified Electronically.
They should preform indoors by thenWhat, pray tell, do you do when the concert band performs outdoors and there's no convenient electrical outlet?
