NBD #3 Bluesman Vintage El Dorado

I know of a guy that was cold checking lacquer some years ago. It was a fairly simple process of freezing a freshly nitrocellulose lacquered body & then heating the body when it came out of the freezer. The process could be repeated as needed to increase the amount of checking / cracking of the lacquer. He didn’t do any extra relic work until the body had been through the heating / cooling process.
Bluesman Vintage does something to the finish beforehand to make it more prone to checking. Their site refers to their “own proprietary mix of nitrocellulose lacquer designed specifically for authentic cold checking.” I’ve talked with John about it but I can’t remember the details. I do know it’s something he developed in-house and they use it a lot.

Has to be a relic, the "finish checking" stops at the PG. Probably razor blade.
Its a very nice one tho! Bit too rough on the bottom for my taste, but gorgeous nonetheless! I'd love to hear it if you can put up a clip!
Fantastic rig too, are those the SL112s?
I was just up in my music room wrapping presents, so I turned on the iPhone and noodled around a bit. Pretty sure this is the same thing I play whenever I upload a YouTube bass video… lol. Still, headphones on, you can hear a decent representation of the tone of this bass. Just playing it this morning, I really like it a lot.

Congratulations on the nice BMV!
I had to join in cuz today I just received my new to me eldorado #3 as well.
Unfortunately I let the first one go, but now I have two.
My latest light relic and it’s sibling heavy relic
