I dunno man. It's in your hands not mine but it SUUUURE looks like the wood is crushed to me, blown up on the big screen here. I'll bet if you carefully drag a razor blade from a fret into the discolored area to where it stops you will feel the edge of the indent. The wood is shiny there because it's crushed by the tool. I'm betting the neck moved slightly during the fret pressing and the pressing tool did it. Betcha. If I'm wrong I'm wrong but...betcha. If I were you and knowing the lottery of mail-order instruments, if I liked it anyway I'd simply sand that stuff out and play.It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the fingerboard is flat, there is no indentation, no bumps or cuts in the wood itself. ....
So it's already been returned at least once.Edit: I almost forgot, I have another intriguing/enraging detail. The plastic film on the neck plate is mysteriously missing, but whoever pulled it off didn't do a very good job.
