I love the look of the hofner spacing, but if you ever use just the bridge pickup I'd suggest the j bass spacing. If it's just to blend in with the neck pickup then the hofner spacing can work .Different sounds for sure.

Well, I decided on in between the two. Since the bridge pickup is a dual coil and we are going to add a coil tap switch, I wanted the neck coil in the jazz bass location for single coil position on the switch. This is what we are going with...it might be sort of in between the two positions in my previous pics:

I tried to contact him about 20 years ago......wanted a short scale.....don't think he was doing any back then....but I never got an answer to my email.....might have gotten lost so I ended up getting a BC luthier to build me one instead. Still would love one like yours though.

Frets are in (EVO Gold .043” x .080”), neck is carved, front pickup routed.

I know! In the pics before the finish I could barely see it...but it’s really coming out beautifully! I’m thinking it will be two to three more weeks before it’s complete. I’m going to Vancouver over spring break to pick it up...April 17th is my NBD!
