Great-looking bass!! Congrats OP.
The body shape looks really confortable and the bridge/stoptail solution is clever.
Alumitron sounds good for a name.
Enjoy!!

Thanks. I was going for a body shape that would work great while seated, so that's the reason the bottom horn is shaped the way it is. My back doesn't enjoy standing in one spot for very long as I age.

I'd call it Frank, as in earnest, straight forward, and not pretentious. Kind of a "means business" name that exudes driving force, yet with refinement. YMMV, etc

When I was a kid my grandma's neighbor was Frank. He was a boxer in the marines during WW2. He was well into his 60's and could keep a speed bag going while kicking a swinging target and alternating some pretty good shots on a body bag. He didn't workout with his bridge in, so when he'd smile you'd see that his top two front teeth were missing ( gone from boxing ). He would let me keep the birds out of his cherry tree with a bb gun when I would visit. So, yes, Frank is a name that, to me, means exactly what you stated. I don't know if my bass construction skills can live up to that as it's a tall order.

In the 3 builds I have finished, it's the first time I pretty much got what I envisioned and the first time felt I needed to initiate a NBD post! Going for what I would call a "semi-industrial" look. Consequently, some imperfections are actually on purpose though I may not say which ones ;)

Neck is from Eden guitars with maple fretboard that I "customized".
Body is a jazz bass style that I modified for the shape I wanted. Wood is paulowina ( going for light weight which ended up at 6lbs 4oz )
Passive Pickups: bridge pu is a Bartolini 9CBJD-L1, neck pu is no name humbucker that balances well with the bart in the center switch position. I had other pickups initially, but ended up with this setup for a number of reasons.
Strings are GHS Pressurewound M7200 - designed this bass for string through and to use sets for a 34" scale so I could more easily try different sets and/or get the gauges I wanted. I may just leave well enough alone and stick with what's on it now though.
Pickguard is perforated aluminum
Tuners are Hipshot Ultralites

Maybe you all can help me name this bass - I have never named any of my basses, but this one seems to need a name..... Thanks!

Awesome!!:):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Super cool! As has been said, the string-through so you can use regular-length strings is quite clever. And I love the aluminum pickguard plus how that’s echoed in the headstock. Just awesome.

Before it can get a name, though, I think we need to hear it... I’m dying to know how it sounds...

This bass is sick! I love the numerical plate indicators for the knobs. As earlier mentioned, it has a steam-punk vibe to it but not as blatant. I'd call it Dave - from the Kids in the Hall. These are the Daves I know.

Brilliant. I love the shape of it.... different enough to be original but not too out there. I assume your stringing method enables the use of full scale strings?

Frank does seem to suit it. Could also be short for Frank N Stein which it appears to be.
