A few years back, my band played a wedding for a couple that we had met at one of our gigs. Ever since they have managed to come out and party with us all over the MD/VA/WV/DC area. They quickly became "friends" to us and not just "fans".

About a year ago, the husband, Seth, told me that he also played bass. Well, that he had one. Not that he really played it. I asked him what it was and he simply said it was an acoustic bass. He was unsure of the model as it was given to him by an older family member. I asked him to send me a pic of it when he got home. Turns out, Seth had a Tacoma Thunderchief! I explained to him how nice those basses are and how sought out they are by quite a few players. I asked him if he could bring it out one night and let me check it out as I've never actually seen one in person.

Fast forward to last nights gig. They came out with a few of their friends and Seth said "hey man, your guitarist let me in the back stage area, I left you something in the back." Confused I went to check it out. I saw a black case and opened it up to find the Thunderchief! I looked to him in pure shock and awe. He said it simply collects dust at his house and he feels it should belong to me. All he wanted in return was for me to enjoy it! I'm still in disbelief. I've never received such an awesome gift from someone.

I had one of those at one point. Regretfully sold it and you can't buy them anymore. Tacoma thunderchief. Great score. Only acoustic bass I've played that was nicer would be Taylor ABG.
Yeah it's nicer than anything I've played ABG wise. I had a Dean AEB 5 string once that was ok at best. I also have a Michael Kelly 4 string. Neither compare to the Tacoma.
