NBD - My Birth Year Bass!

As many of us do, I have been keeping my eye out for a good deal on a birth year bass, and for me that would be a 1975 Precision.

About a week ago, I came across an ad for a 1975 Precision in natural finish at a below average price, so I asked my wife what she thought, telling her it was okay to say no. Instead, she said, “Sure, why not? In fact, if you can talk them down some, I’ll buy it for you.”

And so I did talk them down, and she did buy it. I am a lucky, lucky man.

Wow, that’s a beauty! I have a 76’ that’s in good condition (on loaner from future brother in law...) exactly the same. Heavy beast but the best Fender I’ve ever played.

You know the drill.. full history!!

I don't know much, just that it's all original, still even has the foam under the bridge cover. The thumb rest and pickup cover are long gone, but I likely would have removed those items anyway, so I wasn't too concerned about that. It is fairly heavy at 12 lbs, but as a Peavey T-40 owner, I've never been afraid of heavy basses. It was sold on consignment by Elderly Instruments. They were a very nice company to deal with, by the way.

It came with Rotosound rounds on it, and I was not getting along with it at first. But I put the Chromes on last night, and it really came alive!

Superb! Agree with you on the pick-up cover.. I think they look cool but not practical for my playing.
Borrowing this bass has cemented that flats aren't for me... You need some NYXL's if you really wanna make 'er sing!! ;)
