NBD - my wife letting me relive my youth

Gratification delayed is gratification denied?

Which is to say: unnecessary and pointless frustration? (Ain’t too many things that arrive in that a box that shape.)

I’m with D-Man.

Life is short. And this isn’t just another present. It’s reconnecting with your past and who you truly are. So it’s perfectly fine to open it early if you want to.

View attachment 2847836 My wonderful wife and son made me very happy by getting me this beauty for Christmas. I’d mentioned that I’d really love to get another Thunderbird and showed her a picture of Epiphone Classic PRO in black. Much to my surprise, this showed up on my doorstep.

Enjoy. I just got one of these as well, and it is a killer bass.

You totally have to!

I guess having been provided a natural segue, MM, there's no point waiting till the 25th: Merry Christmas, Darling.

This. Last year before Christmas, my wife allowed me to get the bass Ive wanted for 30 years...a Wal MKI. She said the same thing above...life is short, go for it.

A Wal MKI? Awesome lady! Cherish that one. She’d get along great with my SO. Similar attitude. I’ve had three basses show up gift wrapped under the tree over the years. Not a Wal. But I’ve also (wisely) never confessed to her how much I’d like one of those, which is probably why. Being a musician herself she understands these things.

Enjoy your TBird. Cool bass with it’s own voice and vibe. Play it well.

I totally agree. Life is made to be enjoyed and I’ve been looking to replace the one I traded to a good friend of mine for a 4001 Rick. Never regretted the trade, just missed the bass. Now I have a really close approximation to that original 76 and found out the guy I traded with just found an 81 4001 to replace the one he traded to me. I guess we are both whole again

That's what my wife got when she bought me a NOS MIJ Mustang bass last year. Congrats on the bass and the cool family.

That the thing with family... you love them like there's no tomorrow, while simultaneously pulling every last hair from its follicular mooring...

(I'm getting a dictionary for Christmas, opened it early and went straight to 'f')

So one time I was trying to get rid of some rodents, but I didn't have any cheese for my traps. I got out a magazine, found an ad and cut out a picture of some cheese and used it to bait my trap. You won't believe what I caught! A picture of a mouse!

I'm reflecting on your parable, and have concluded that you don't think I'm good for the ring.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Enough "reliving the past" -- it's time to chart a bold new future!
(slips ring on MM's finger)
With this ring, I thee wed!

Band, play on!
