That's what I said. Lol. I read fourstringbliss' post as saying they are in the wrong place. I was saying they are in the right place. The markings are placed so the player can see them looking down while in playing position.

Even I owned one I might not be able to tell you. I’m the kind of guy who mashes a few of them at random until I like the sound and then I stop ... for a while.Obviously not familiar with this model. So.... what do the buttons do?
These aren't old and kinda sorta on the Ric pickup placement, way different pickups. i changed the knob on mine first thingI love funky old basses, so I might eventually sell one of mine to help pay for one of these.
Probably the white with tort. I have an Ibanez P/J, a Peavey MM/J and a G&L L2000 Tribute. I think this would take the place of the G&L.

That’s what attracted me to it as wellI just meant it looks like a funky old bass, so I like the looks of this one.
While I can't help with the Ric question, I think for now I'll keep the chicken head knob. For sure I'd swap out the chicken head knob for a simple black metal one, though. Are you going to keep it as is? I guess it keeps with the vintage funky vibe.
What color pickguard are you going with?Dakota Red cat has enough "pop" for the camera but LPB all the way this round
Yep, I ordered the bag when I ordered the bass. I thought they really needed to be together. There's a lot that I like about these.
Among other things, did it really ship in a leopard-interior gig bag? Lol that's awesome
Tort!! Totally cool. Hope it sounds as good as it looks. Thanks to a friend, I think my bass may have received blessings from Carey.

Or at least, I'm laying claim to it until proven otherwise!
Just ordered a custom strap from Coco Guitar Straps. Photos when I get it, of course!

UPDATES - New Strap Day!
Got my rad cool "Drinks!" strap from Coco Guitar Straps on Etsy, (Handcrafted Vegan Guitar and Ukulele Straps by CocoGuitarStraps) and I think it really is well-suited to this bass! It's a custom-made 3" wide (not that I need it for a 6.5 pound bass) strap with red cork ends. The cork looks more burgundy to me, and that really makes it look good paired with the tort.View attachment 4263720

As usual, Coco was a delight to work with. When I contacted her, she had just finished making the last strap from this material, and it was only a 2" wide one. I said I really hoped for a wider strap (to show off the pattern, not to hold up a super heavy bass) she responded, "I think I can take it apart and make it a 3" version for you." Within two days, she had this gorgeous custom strap ready for my order. As she normally does, she included a set of picks which match the colors in the strap. Quality service, above and beyond. Factor in the comfort and really light weight of Coco's straps and it's a huge win in my book!
I absolutely love this strap! Every time I see it, I want a mojito. Or a gin and tonic. Or a Manhattan. Every time I sling the bass on, I feel even cooler than before I had the strap.
Coco's site will be taken down in coming weeks as she prepares to move house from England to the USA. She said once she gets settled, the Etsy site will be back up, and shipping costs and times should be improved for North American customers.
I tell ya friends, these straps are the bomb!
