NBD: Pawn Shop FrankenFender ! LOTS of pics !

The only bodies I've seen with red letter in a circle are japanese made. So I think it's either a Fender MIJ body, or a japanese copy. What did the heel of the neck look like? Did it have an plugged holes?

The reason why I am asking is that for some of the japanese copies, it's the pickguard that does not quite line up. Usually at the tip which might explain why.

I'm not seeing any plugged holes. I had mentioned earlier in the thread that I thought it was probably a mid 80s fender Japan reissue (Fujigen) as those are the only ones I know of that have a red circle. Though it seems weird to leave that is the only mark when this was a Refinned... but it seems your thoughts on it are consistent with mine. Thanks for your ideas on it, I appreciate it !

While I figure out what to do about the badass tort guard that came on it, I'm thinking about rebuilding it with either an aged white guard or a black guard. Both look cool, and I enjoyed both locks. Still figuring out which one I want to go with.

My vote is for the Black/White/Black guard, but then work it over with my Sharpie-Mod™ technique. Red looks pretty spiffy, but given the number of Sharpie colors there are, the sky's the limit.

I think Warmoth does, or used to do, a black red black pick guard that looked a lot like that. Ive Always thought it pretty cool! Madness!
