Neck pocket hole size

Ok. My concern about using it on the floor of the neck pocket is that then I'm changing the neck angle. If I wanted to shim it in that way, I'd be more comfortable using a full pocket shim.

Would there be a better material to use for a side shim?
If you use a piece of sandpaper the full size of the pocket floor, you’re not changing the angle. You’re merely raising the neck about a hundredth of an inch.

Use ultra fine black emery paper and stick it down with CA glue or double sided tape, etc.

As stated by whom? Nothing in the thread so far has suggested to me that the pocket holes and neck holes are aligned.

I’m in agreement with you here, but it’s no easier than shimming the sides of the neck pocket for a snug fit, which is my preferred method. Shimming doesn’t require making the neck screws as tight, provides more mechanical support and has no effect upon neck height or angle. The sandpaper method does work, though.
Op has said twice in this thread that the holes look fine after making them larger, except one that has a few thread marks in it. Not an issue, but he can widen it a bit if it bugs him.

Ok fair point. So stick it to the bottom of the neck? Or the pocket floor?

And this is a better solution than a side shim?

This is why we prefer to purchase necks that have not been bored to accept screws. We prefer to line it up, mark it, and bore the holes. That way we know it's right the first time.

Not much help in this case, though. Maybe next time.
